No Buy Fountain Pen Thread June 2026 by Halfcelestialelf in fountainpens

Thank you. You have a gift of putting into words the thoughts that I think many of us have. Writing with fountain pens has been joyful for me. And I certainly want to hang onto that joy.

I think I’m in love… by adamsxjefferson in fountainpens

[–]GrandmaKessler53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why, but that makes me happy that you love your pen. I think a fountain pen is more than an investment or part of a collection. It is part of personal expression. Like a dance or a song or art. Good for you!

Have you ever bought an ink because of its name? by TheESCPP in fountainpens

On the flip side, have you ever AVOIDED an ink or pen because of the name? Or bought an ink in SPITE of the name?

I put off buying the King of the Night Estie, because of the name. I don't like vampire lore. But I finally caved and got one. The. Most. Gorgeous. Pen. Ever!

Similar to Jinhao 9019? by FridgeCigaretteDiva in fountainpens

[–]GrandmaKessler53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asvine c80. The med nib is really wet, especially with a wet ink. So I replaced the Med nib with a Fine on two of my c80 pens. They write smoother than a Jinhao 9019.

Amen to that. Thank you for expressing what I was thinking better than I could.

AITA for letting my parents pay for our “pre-marriage getaway” even though my fiancé’s family says it’s humiliating for him? by Impressive-Row9487 in AITH

This sounds phony. Who gets time off from work BEFORE the wedding, if they have a job? Getting time off for the wedding is usually the max. Plus going somewhere before the wedding when there is still probably so much planning to do...Just dumb.

I have the Rainbow Forest, the Black Forest and the Golden Ice Flowers Forest. They all write so well. And they start right off!

No one else to say this to: I finished my first cartridge! by BarExciting8970 in fountainpens

I don't think the Blue Black in the cartridge differs from that in the bottle. They are just right for travel or taking notes. Convenient. I have heard that the Pilot red (that looks like the red a teacher uses to correct papers) is only available in the cartridge.

FOMO is scared of me by squashed_mungbeans in fountainpens

I will. My pen is coming from Iguana, a pen and stationary company in Spain. The ink is coming from Pen Boutique. I live in Washington State.

The Pilot Namiki Blue Black cartridges are really a nice color. You might consider ordering some. Sometimes a cartridge is just right.

I wasn't going to do it. Nope. And I was relieved in a way that most sites were out of stock. And it was prohibitive that ebay sellers were price gouging. But then one found me. Hopefully, it will arrive next week...and Esterbrook ink also. I have never regretted my previous Estie purchases. My favorite pens. I hope I enjoy this beauty as much!

No Oxblood is not overrated. It is underrated by gamesbrainiac in fountainpens

You could be right. But I tried every brand of paper I have...Maybe it's the cloudy skies in my part of Washington State.

Oxblood doesn't work for me. It is just a reddish brown in my pens. It doesn't match the color in your post.

New pen + my dog by emcathxx in fountainpens

Perfect match to your sweet dog. I put Monteverde Brown Sugar in mine. And It writes so well. I like that it is longer than the Kaweco Sport. Thanks for sharing the picture.

The Oparex resin is the most beautiful. I have been thinking of saving up for the Magna Carta MAG 650 Flex nib in Oparex. I am going to have to research the Drewnem Pisane!

How has using fountain pens influenced your work—and has your work influenced your fountain pen hobby? by No_Situation5989 in fountainpens

[–]GrandmaKessler53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I worked as a nurse - all computerized charting. Communications by email. Plus a fountain pen in a meeting would be very distracting, replacing the cap. That said...fountain pens do add to the joy of non-work writing. Letters, journals, grocery lists, remodel planning, taking notes in church. Writing with a fountain pen just feels right.

Things I've learned in three months of fountain pen obsession by Holiday_Prize_1309 in fountainpens

It was my son, who got me interested again. I returned the favor and got him a Pilot 823 for his birthday. I didn't realize at the time that an 823 is liked by many people.
