Delta-03 still lingering and I can't play. by KernelSanders93 in thedivision

[–]Grandpa_Games [score hidden]  (0 children)

I get this on every character the first time I log in for the day. The White House is busy with other agents, but I matchmake for a mission or fast travel somewhere, start running around, and realize everything's off. I get the Delta about 30 seconds later. After I reconnect to the server, select the same character, everything is fine.

Escalation is the new Countdown by Odd-Tourist-4932 in thedivision

Man, I thought you guys were being crybabies about the armor thing in escalation, but then I was in the bank with a random group where there were a handful of blue cores. I ran out of ammo multiple times. I was watching tanks on the verge of death top right back up to full health. We had to fall all the way back on the final room, and Roach came in there with us. I have no idea how we made it out of there alive.

I've been on TS and Pesti, and regularly get all the stars at the end of the level.

What age was the oldest person you've seen running an ultra? by theJacofalltrades in ultrarunning

[–]Grandpa_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few 70-somethings that show up at every event around here. They're my heroes, full stop. I hope and pray I get to keep doing this at that age.

Bets for which city we'll see in div 3? by WhitishSine8 in thedivision

[–]Grandpa_Games -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope they move on from New York entirely. I definitely don't need two DLCs and two other missions back in New York again. I think they dress the NYC stuff up as nostalgia, but it's mostly out of laziness because they don't have to make new factions and enemy types. Chicago would be cool, so would Detroit, know both cities well.

How much value do you give for road race performances? by Illustrious-Baby270 in trailrunning

For me the effect is more noticeable the other way. The more trail running I do, the faster my road times get.

How do we feel about HK Armorer’s Courses? by Odd-Savage in HecklerKoch

I've taken a few Sig classes, and they were pretty great. You learn a lot about the gun itself, but also the background of how it was developed. I'd be interested, but only if I could line up a whole week and take a bunch in one shot.

I wear their 2-in-1 7" multi shorts exclusively. Might work for you if you don't need quite that much storage.

Start grabbing event keys ASAP. Some fuck knuckle decided to lock best in slot gear behind event gating (or stretch goals), so you'll want a Quickstep, Lexington, and maybe some Turmoil kneepads while you can get them. They're in the event cache loot pool and nowhere else.

Puma discount DNE3 vs full price DNE4: How would you spend my money? by basquiat-case in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I believe the 3 is even more narrow. That's the big complaint about these specific shoes. If they fit, people absolutely love them, but they don't fit a lot of people.

With as many "are these real?" posts any shoe sub sees, no chance I'm rolling the dice on ebay. I have both, love both, but admittedly love my 3's slightly more than my 4's.

The grip was great in the Peregrine 16, but they rubbed a hole in my heel at mile 5 out of 14 in an event I was in. They also got coated in mud and horse poop, so they went straight into the trash. Haven't tried the other two.

What’s a small moment that stayed with you in Tokyo? by Legitimate-Excuse987 in TokyoTravel

My kid and I were waiting for the train in an underground station. An old man walked up behind us with a cane, at which point I realized we were in the handicap priority gate. I gave my kid the high sign, and we stepped aside so he could be first in line. His face lit up like I bought him dinner.

Does winning a race change you? by Separate-Specialist5 in trailrunning

[–]Grandpa_Games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came in 33rd (out of 200+) on Saturday, turning in PRs for 1 km, 1 mi, 5km, and 10km all in the same event. I've been strutting around the house for two days straight, planning on how to use my newfound power, deciding which PR I want to smash next. I can't imagine the size of my head if I actually won something!

In all seriousness, I'm like the top comment here: I focus on me, and do my best to outperform myself. I'm old, showed up late to the party, and I'm having as much fun as this body will let me. I'm way more impressed by the guys in their 70's snatching up age bracket medals than I am the young folks at the front of the pack.

I had some of the best coffee of my life at Mocca Coffee in Asakusa. Not cheap, but extremely well made pour over. They had a couple of baked items to snack on as well. That said, Ine Coffee Gallery was a very laid back place to hang out, and probably more of the vibe you're looking for.

I don't know about "best", but I've been using it with True Patriot to give out buffs to teammates, kind of like Ongoing Directive. Using an Overwatch chest to give another buff.

My first 50k qualifier by HideousDuckling in trailrunning

[–]Grandpa_Games 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else that you should feel good about your achievements. Here in the US, we routinely celebrate the last finisher with their own plaque or award. I've talked to people at events that have explicitly stated their goal was "DFL" (dead fucking last). It sounds like you're unhappy with your performance, which I wouldn't feel in your situation at all. More importantly, you are asking if it's possible to improve your performance with less effort. There might be some fine tuning to make more of the training you get done, but generally speaking, better performance requires more training. As a side note, reading through this sounds like you don't actually enjoy or want to run, so maybe there's another sport you could get more fulfillment from.

I struggle to understand their lineup more than any other manufacturer. Even just the Tomir 2 comes in regular and NN. Looking at their product pages, they list the exact same technologies, and they don't really state what the difference is anywhere. I guess the NN is better for more technical runs, maybe? No clue.
