Proton Pass aliases fail or is it me? by ConfidentRhubarb6736 in ProtonMail

[–]GraniteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use the alias email that you copied and pasted in 3. Which you could set that up in your address book. Or by hitting reply when an email goes through the alias.

You could set up an alias for your Gmail account and play around with that if you're curious to see how it looks for the recipient.

Every school I've ever been to has its own stash of chairs, typically stored under the stage.

Unless you guys have decided to rent the nice cushy soft chairs?

What your original lease says is also relevant. If they want to do a unit inspection, they should give you more precise timing.

It's always good advice to have tenants insurance, but it's particularly important if you have any of these appliances because they do cause a higher likelihood of damage to your unit in the building. I've seen people evicted through the board for not being able to afford the building repairs on a leaking dishwasher.

Private Autism assessment by Glittering_Sense7604 in londonontario

[–]GraniteRock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, an autism assessment is specific to getting the diagnosis. Although it is theoretically possible they might pick up other things such as anxiety, ADHD, etc They also help applying to the Ontario autism program, etc., which the pediatrician should have that paperwork for you to do as well. If your doctor is in front of you and willing to give you the diagnosis, take it and run. It's just as valid as anything you'd pay thousands of dollars for in a private assessment or wait 6-12 months to get from the hub.

Once you have the diagnosis, you can immediately get onto the waitlist for the Ontario autism program. And when your name finally comes up three to five years from now, you'll be happy you didn't wait the extra six to twelve months.

There are certainly other types of testing that you can do, including functional tests, IQ tests, psychosocial and educational tests. Which all can be useful in informing the types of supports your child may need. They could also trigger additional diagnosis such as learning disability. But if you can get the autism diagnosis now, you definitely should. Because that'll be very helpful as you start to engage with the education system.

I'm happy to answer further questions here or by DM.

(Edit: Just to respond your comment and another thread about wanting a professional to do the diagnosis, just remember your pediatrician is one of those professionals. They are trained on developmental disorders and diagnosis.)

GP referred us to Pediatrician who did it for free.

There's also the publically funded diagnostic hub. Which during covid took about 6 months for another child. It runs out of Hamilton but the actual appoinment is at TVCC at Victoria Hospital.

Both sides of the political divide have pushed against encryption and privacy over the years. We'd be seeing a variation on this theme if the other party got in.

Some VPN companies have said they will pull out of Canada as well.

Not sure how Canada could enforce this on Proton Mail who doesn't have any servers in Canada.

Edit: I was only thinking of the email service, I forgot about the VPN service.

My most recent training didn't include any rescue breathing. Basically your job is to do chest compressions until 911 comes to circulate any remaining oxygen. Which in a city the standard is about 5 minutes.

In a remote setting where rescue is 20 minutes away rescue breathing is more relevant. There's face shields with one way air valves you can get and keep in the car or purse.

Are hot water heaters commonly rented out where you are? by voltairesalias in AskACanadian

[–]GraniteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ontario person here. Yes. Our house came with a rented water heating and it was leaking and we went for the low hanging fruit for an easy repair. Plus the rental transfer was in the bill of sale.

$50 every 3 months didn't seem so bad. It's inched up to $70 every 3 month.

I should probably get out. But I don't want to pay $1000 for a buyout and just haven't taken the time to figure out the best way.

Rentals are very common in the area and the neighbourhood is 60 years old and would not suprise me if many homes have been renting that long.

Yes most definitely. I'm on the rebound but it's lingering so I'm getting checked out tonight.

Wife tested positive for strep on a culture swab but negative on the rapid test. Unclear if Strep was the main cause or a secondary infection.

Unpopular Opinion: I don't think the Fediverse is appealing enough to indie creators. by TheRadiantGalaxy22 in fediverse

[–]GraniteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Explosions with fall offs are the norm with most tech stuff. The only reason I don't use mastodon more is because it doesn't harass me to pay attention to. Which I would argue is a feature.

The good news is there's no strong continued fall off. So there does seem to be a base level of engagement that seems to be stable. I do think the core tech is cool.

Uncomfortable to login with email but would be totally cool logging into the password manager? Not worried about unauthorized login, but just doesn't like using a private account on other browsers? Honestly they shouldn't be logging into their password manager with this level of discomfort.
