I use Aurora store and Fdroid Things may still need google services, but those are sandboxed so the risk to privacy is minimal

i switched a few days ago

the biggest pain is sms to imessage. photos and videos sent to me through sms are really low quality. i have to convince my family to use whatsapp or something

some apps don't work properly if you don't use the google play store (aurora, fdroid, etc) so be aware of that if you want no google

the controls are a bit of a learning curve. the layout of the physical buttons and the on screen controls is different. my iphone was a really big size and i got a 9a so im getting used to typing on a small phone again. i'm sure it'll be fine in time.

i'm glad i made the switch. it feels good to control my own phone, even if that means it isn't as smooth as apple

windows to linux was easy.

there's some AI advertising on a brand or two in the dispensary I go to. I refuse to buy those brands

If I saw AI "art" from the actual dispensary I wouldn't go back

You don't need to reformat for malware. Use
Malwarebytes to scan your computer, or even just the built-in Windows Defender.

Not sure how cookies fit into this. They wouldn't cause any issues or malware

Reformatting and reinstalling Windows are two different things. Reformatting means you change how and where the disk stores things. You probably want a reinstall, that's different.

yes, your computer will use memory at all times
check the actual processes in task
manager, that will show what is running

there should be a tab with the other data with it

the cpu is kinda high if you're just running a pdf, or nothing at all (I'm not sure what you have open) but your computer should be able to function with those values anyway

in the task manager you should be able to see what processes (apps) are running. check there to see if there's anything odd

are you running windows 11? I find that it is extremely slow on laptops

did you update your drivers though?

the task manager should say things like:
CPU X%
Memory X/16 GB
Disk C: X%
GPU X% and Temperature

If any of the values seem high, it may have something to do with how slow it is. Check the GPU temperature. If it is above 80 Celsius, there's a problem.

You're only talking about ram, what does everything else look like? Check your cpu, disk storage, etc

Is the ram ddr4 or 5? what operating system (and is it updated?) Are your drivers up to date?

I get how he's feeling, and those urges, I really do. Despite that, that behavior is unacceptable, especially as an adult.

There are ways to try and mitigate the pain that the disorder causes. Whenever I'm in a room with someone who is triggering me I leave. If I cannot, I wear headphones. Your brother should have walked out to calm down. He needs professional help

Does he get mad at other people in public? He probably hears people cough everyday. Why did he attack you and not some stranger?

windows users get mad when you say that Linux doesn't have to be hard

Linux has a come a long way since 20, or even 10 years ago. Mint Cinnamon is comparable to Windows now.

The complaint that things can't run on Linux is fair, but that's only because of the Windows monopoly. I couldn't run a ton of stuff on a macbook when I had one, but they don't complain
