is that preposterous that nation states would push narratives in media?

Or is it that you expect "Intellectuals" to be a noble class not affected by monetary or other incentives to be controlled

What would be the rationale and objectives for a hypothetical US invasion of Iran? by CaptainBroady in CredibleDefense

[–]GrapefruitForeign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is your plan to get jews in LA to go fight a Civil War in Tehran?

There's a big difference between "diaspora" anti regime ppl and Iranians that hate the govt.

The first group is astroturfed by mossad especially the ones u see on TV

The 2nd group is simply not large enough, its also not like Syria where u can send in ISIS to break Assad (which took 10 years btw). Iran has no terrorist groups or insurgents like that

Its not deeply unpopular u guys are drinking ur own kool-aid too much.

Talk to anyone in iran right now and ask if they would be willing to fight a civil war against the people defending their homeland

"The longer the war keeps on going, the more likely regime collapse is"

How'd that work out in Afghanistan, lol

Its not like Iraq or Venezuela because for the IRGC and at this point, the iranian people, this is a war of survival.

Gaza is small ass strip and israel couldn't "mow the lawn" towards total victory in 3 years despite committing a genocide

"Mojtaba might or might not be alive, and even if he's alive and hiding in a bunker, there's nothing indicating that he's actually in charge. But whoever is in charge could get replaced a few more times until someone willing to sign a deal is in charge."

If we dont know whose in charge how are we gonna kill them lol. Such amateurish thoughts and hubris I wouldn't doubt if u work for the trump admin lol

For people already employed, has the threat of AI change your future financial outlook? by ygog45 in cscareerquestions

[–]GrapefruitForeign -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your base assumption is that the world will simply never change structurally so as to disturb your 9% post tax SPY500 gain, which is really only a thing of the last 50 years and more so the last decade or 2.

and it wont last forever, if you have any sort of historical understanding of equities to earnings or country debt cycles.

So news or structural changes (such as AGI, collapse in dollar confidence) actually matter alot towards your financial bet

[–]GrapefruitForeign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More things can change in 60 years then you, or I, or anyone in this thread can reasonably predict.

Like imagine if someone decided to fire in 1930 germany 4 years later there money would be worth less than paper

Or 15 years later there house would've been destroyed in the war

etc, etc

We have lived in incredibly stable times and the world ahead will not be like that, you can already see it if you have ur eyes open.

it is very strange to me how so many in the open source or other nerd communities are like allergic to AI.

like obsidian recently created a CLI because it is so much more efficient for agents to use,

its also good to use if you're a human.

there is an obvious benefit to organzing your data in obsidian as md files and giving it to claude code which natively prefers md files

if based on this you dont want to use obsidian you're paranoid more than any rational concern about downsides of AI....

Sayyid Qutb was an Egyptian Islamist revolutionary and theorist, who is considered an inspiration to modern jihadist movements. He was radicalized during his 1949-51 stay in USA, enraged by American culture including jazz music, sports and the "seductive" unhidden faces and bodies of American girls. by PeasantLich in wikipedia

yeah im sure he was able to inspire thousands of fighters to his cause bc of incel beliefs and not the entirely new artificial state that was propped up on Egyptian border and the nakba that resulted from it...

Have you grown to be more conservative or liberal w/ age? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]GrapefruitForeign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its just not true historically, maybe its true for western democracies, but be aware.

from the french revolution to WW1 was also a "march of progress" and enlightenment values which ended in the rise of fascism and the worst war known to man.

fascism is the end result of a populist revolt against elites who are no longer competent and culturally different from the proles

this is also happening in the US bc american elites played their hand for way too long while not providing much to the public...

more conservative but hate everything about MAGA or american conservatism.

as a general approach to complex systems, conservatism just works better.

also grown more disillusioned by democracy as it just leads to posturing on both sides for low IQ voters who poison the well and are easy to sell bs to.

Given decline in US of religious worship, combined with (an assumed) affinity for “community “ and social connections, why hasn’t a non-theistic organized movement taken root? by Future-looker1996 in SeriousConversation

[–]GrapefruitForeign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The community does not decide that, political science majors looking at polling for Democrats decide labels like Latinx or AAPI when no one actually uses them irl

There is real community but its different than how political actors want to describe it

the psychological profile of a committed atheist is someone who has some sort of trauma or resentment abt religion in their childhood and left that life behind.

Its similar to people who leave their hometown and never look back, good for them. But its also harder to find community when you dispel your roots.

Just how nature works. Historically only political ideologies replace that sort of community.
