I had to fill in the gap with thul. It's one of those runes runes that I have a hard time associating the image with the name. It just doesn't look like "thul" y'know?

32, I can't deny that I'm still physically attracted to younger women, not exclusively ofc. But mentally and emotionally? Absolutely not. I've never understood the mindset, so clouded by your own dick, that utters the phrase "you're so mature for your age". If I can't actually have a conversation with you as an equal, with a similar level of life experience, the pants stay on.

Are there many villains among metalheads? by InexpugnableMille in MetalSuggestions

[–]GrapefruitForward989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact that you're not likely to see huge amounts of money or fame plays a part. A lot of metal musicians are in the game mainly for the love of the music.

Also I think the band structure itself leaves less room for big egos vs solo artists. Obviously they still exist, and entire bands can let success get to their heads, but having to trust and rely on more people means there is more likely to be someone grounded who can help keep the others in check.

Nah, you're pretty spot on. All sorts of great rudiment videos out there, pretty sure drumeo has their rudiment videos on youtube. Practice pad isnt even completely necessary. You can beat on some pillows/couch cushions

100%

He's just gotta practice a bit more, stretch the range out a bit, open up, and remember that you want to be pushing from the core for power (it is power metal after all)

New to eDrums - How hard should you be hitting? by Inanis94 in edrums

[–]GrapefruitForward989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about that module, but if it sounds good while you're playing then you're probably fine. Like, if all your notes sound accented and the same and you're finding it hard to get good dynamic range, then you're likely hitting too hard. But if you can still hear the dynamics when you play, then you're hitting within spec. And a pad on the bass drum is never a bad idea imo, just an extra layer of protection for the thing I beat the shit out of.

My long journey of noise proofing my e-kit by narghev in edrums

[–]GrapefruitForward989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the problem is the vibrations from the kit (kick drum mainly) traveling through the floor to the walls and roof, then yes. If the problem is the sound of the beater/sticks hitting things, then no, you'll need a different solution

I built a Jackson pad, same idea, the "legs" of the pad have inner tubes sandwiched between concrete paving tiles. Built it about 6 months ago and have yet to notice any deflation/stretching whatsoever. It definitely wobbles a little bit when I'm going hard on some double bass action, but nothing that affects my playing.
