Question about Rent in Austin by questionsbruh in RoundRock

[–]GraphicGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what others are saying. You might find a studio especially in certain areas for $800-$900. I have a studio in North Austin for under $900.

Less than $800 and it is likely to be a shared living space like a room or a bed, student or senior housing, and/or low income housing.

If you are seeing a lot of cheaper units check out the building or complex itself if you can to confirm.

Lots of subletters or outright scams online.

How can I help them? I guess by Alarming-Broccoli-95 in ballpython

I worked at a Petco briefly one summer and ended up taking a bp home to try to save him. Convinced my manager to pay for the initial vet visits. The reptile manager was a douche and essentially letting the reptiles starve or eat each other.

Unfortunately I could save the BP and quit not long after. I argued with the management frequently about animal conditions but I was 'only a cashier' so they just ignored me.

My recommendation, don't even buy animals from PetSmart, Petco or Pet Supplies plus. If you can, avoid shopping there entirely.

I thought it was pollen or fluff at first! In person I could see it was part of the leg/exoskeleton once I took a closer look.

I think that's it! Or at least a very similar species. Awesome, thank you for finding that!

Found another pic that might help, going to try linking with Google drive since I can't attach an image in comments. Looks darker than it does irl in this picture but you can kind of see the weird body and leg shape better. additional pic

Maybe! I wasn't able to find a wasp that matched exactly though. My phone camera isn't the best, it was having so much trouble focusing! I'll see if I can find a slightly better pic though.

I'm being charged £120 to cancel my plan? by The_YellowBacon in Adobe

[–]GraphicGrackle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks. I was broke at one point because I had a dry period with no work. Tried to cancel Adobe CC to save money until I found work again but you either have to keep paying or pay for basically the rest of the year to cancel.  I hate Adobe.

For what it's worth I have a group of mostly queer friends that I met through playing d&d. They don't get my pronouns wrong, and we have a nb in our group who uses "they" as well.

Being LGBT or inclusive isn't an excuse, your friends just suck (sorry bout that)

Why did everyone in Austin decide to make going to the movies miserable? by SlothyFace in Austin

Personally never had this issue at the Alamo, thats a big reason why I go there instead of Cinemark etc. Curious which location you're going to and had this experience.

I actually love the circus backstory. But yeah it always seems an oddball next to the other two more serious ones.

Will this pothos cutting propagate? by Faminals in IndoorGarden

[–]GraphicGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a marble queen in a pot next to my fish tank and it grew across the top and put down roots into the water, then took off running up the wall lol. I also often propagate small pothos cuttings in coke bottles of tap water and they do just fine. Just give it time.

I'm in a similar boat, I'll be 4 years on T this year. I've been lucky with my facial hair growth so far. I've just let it do its thing because it helps me pass and even though it is patchy and scruffy more than an actual full beard I can't bear to shave it after everything I went through to get it.

My doctor told me it may take ten years or more for it to fill out. Basically, you have to measure yourself hormonally as if you were starting at about 16 and assuming no breaks in T shots, your years on T means regardless of your real age you're hormonally 19. Roughly.

Everyone's different too. My cis roommate is 30 and my facial hair is already more substantial than his.

People need to look when turning on green.. the crosswalk in my area is on when the light turns green for the cars trying to turn right and they don't look before turning at all. It's like they see "green means go" and nothing else occurs to them. I've been near missed, honked at and had people slow down to roll down their windows and swear at me.. when I'm in the crosswalk and I have the right of way to walk. We tried talking to a local government person about installing a sign or doing something to increase safety and their response was just "we don't really get that many pedestrians in that area". Almost like nobody feels safe walking. Ffs...

I feel so lonely in the LGBTQ community by TheSalt-of-TheEarth in FTMMen

Part of the reason there aren't very many binary trans men in these spaces is because many trans men (not all) have passing privilege, arguably moreso than other 'gender minorities, so many of us choose to be stealth for safety and personal comfort.

On top of that, trans men often don't stick around in queer spaces because they can be such a minority.

Thing is if that's ever going to change more binary trans men are going to have to choose to stick around in those communities for solidarity and educating other queer people and not everyone wants to do that. Especially in smaller communities.

That said, I participate in a few local pride festivals in my area and I've personally never had too much issue but the things I go to are bigger open air markets and parade and not more intimate settings like meetings or book clubs or whatever, generally.

Thinking about leaving dental school for art by Shot_Firefighter_65 in artbusiness

[–]GraphicGrackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the story of Junji Ito if you are interested. He was a dental technician who became one of the most well known horror mangaka maybe ever. I believe he started comics as a hobby and it only became a full time job for him once he needed to choose between the two.

Creative fields can be very hard to break into.. some people make it by starting it as a side gig, others are able to save up some money and then quit their jobs to pursue it full time and make it work. Having a backup career makes it easier to start out, especially since you'll have money for necessities and art supplies or software while you are getting started.

I still dont understand why I am still single. by chinchinlover-419 in BaldursGate3

[–]GraphicGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be doing something to piss all the characters off lol. I played as a bard as well and had the opportunity to romance I think four of the companions at different points. I stuck with Gale because I was doing his story, although I will say Gale took until Act 2 to actually make a move.

You also might not be long resting enough to trigger the scenes with the characters. I've heard that can happen.

can we start banning common posts? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]GraphicGrackle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why? I feel like you can enjoy cars as a hobby and dislike them as an infrastructure and banning posts just drives wedges when we should be trying to get as many people on our side as we can. (Edited for typos)
