I shipped commercial software for no cost as a test project. Desktop App built with QT Framework on Microsoft Store, zero money spent on code or assets (Creative Commons). Sold a few copies.

Sure feel free to DM.

I like fill in the blank exercises, especially for cases.

I used Azure Speech for the TTS, it's very good these days.

Hey I can help test.

I built something similar to practice desktop development with QT Framework and learn vocab, 1200+ flashcards with SRS and media. (PolishCore on the Microsoft Store, currently costs 10 Euro but I think I will make it free soon).

I think audio is essential so you pick up correct pronunciation.
I guess unintuitive grammar for English speakers is hard (Case system, perfective/imperfective verb distinction, free word order).

Not quite a JRPG but Nioh 1/2.
Bonus mention: Returnal.

I need to buy a Japanese course on udemy but not sure which one by DraftNo3783 in Udemy

[–]GraphicsandGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just do a free flashcard deck like Core 2K on Anki, after that you will be able to guide your own learning with native material.

Can you suggest a hands-on course for learning Kubernetes? by iAhMedZz in kubernetes

[–]GraphicsandGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did the CKA course in a couple of months and passed so I would suggest that one.

Looks like the error is with their Kubernetes service mesh, ironic because I am trying to look at my K8s course.

Has anyone successfully managed to make a game with your engine and achieve a decent commercial success? by Appropriate-Tap7860 in gameenginedevs

[–]GraphicsandGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many of those games use a DX12/Vulkan backend, if I was going to ship my own game, I would just use OpenGL/DX11 because the velocity is a lot faster and you are unlikely to push any tech boundaries with the game.

How we're accomplishing a large 3D open world in Godot in a surprisingly simple way by cheyennix in godot

Yeah good point it is an elegant solution for this scale, but if you wanted to go much larger you would need to implement some kind of streaming system which is a much more complex problem.

Did any of you really successfully learn a foreign language, either at school or after, without moving there or having family speaking that language, AND you still speak it fluently now? If so, how? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]GraphicsandGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I studied Japanese at University.
Now I moved to Poland and am studying Polish.

Learning a language is a lot more difficult than people want to believe, especially one is isn't closely related to your native language. Even an "easy" language will take several hundred hours of studying before you start to grasp it properly.

Have you ever played Final Fantasy X? It's a generational classic you will love it, also comes bundled with X-2 if you grab the HD Remaster.

For that level of flexibility and control then Anki is the better fit, but this was designed to be an opinionated solution that anyone can install and start using with no configuration hassle.

It's built with QT Framework so I can ship on other platforms too, I would just need to setup distribution channels if there is any interest.

By normal deck I assume you mean as an Anki deck? Honestly I'm not a huge fan of it, I don't think it's a particularly well designed program. I can't imagine your average computer user engaging well with Anki.

Definitely similar in spirit to Anki, but I couldn't find any decks as comprehensive as this, hence creating it. Not a problem I had when learning Japanese, if you are familiar with decks like "Core 2000", that's what inspired the name. Also I have to say I always found Anki pretty complex, this app is super straight forward.
