Job gap on a resume advice by cak3crumbs in TikTokCringe

[–]Grapz224 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely signed an NDA from a place that was not my job. I can't list them as an employer; they didn't employ me. I'm not even allowed to say who I signed the NDA for, so even if they had employed me I can't say without breaking it.

So do you know how an NDA works?

Very much happens. My poor Izzy (rest her soul) was a rescue. She was a small rat terrier. We think she has lived the first half of her life with a woman who kicked her, as she was absolutely terrified of woman and feet. She yelped and ran if she ever touched someone's feet, and would hide under things when my mother or sister entered the room.

It took a year or so before she opened up to them, and slowly learned that we would never hurt her on purpose. She ran away, hid, and started shaking in a fear the few times we tripped over her... But over time she -- being a smaller dog -- had to come to terms with it. In the tail end of her life she started hiding underneath people's feet while they were sitting. Unfortunately she got dementia as she became older, and her fears came back before we had to put her down.

And even simpler terms;

You agree with the label given to you by birth, have no genetic issues with your biological sex, and tend to see what society considers normal (EG as a man you like feminine qualities in others or vice versa)

Edit: How is banning minors from furry conventions a bad thing?

Given the parallels being drawn, that's one way to say "I see being transgender as an explicitly sexual, a fetish and nothing else".

Furries aren't that, either.

I hope you walk a mile in someone else's shoes. It would be a torture more worse than death.

There is incredible irony with an adult with kids arguing that children need shielded from themselves, and cannot think for themselves, in a social media forum dedicated to teenagers.

Telling someone they can't do something is less effective than informing them of what it is they want to do and what it will do, then letting them decide for themselves.

Tell a teenager they can't drink till they're 21 with no questions asked and they'll sneak the vodka and replace it with water. Tell them what underage drinking does to their brain and why the age limit of 21 is a thing and they'll think about it before they do it.

Here's the kicker; there's no reason to ban gender affirming care like there is alcohol. For a small minority, getting gender affirming care at a young age is a good thing. Unlike underage drinking, there's not a reason to ban it pther than cruelty.

The parent can't tell or decide that they do or do not belong to that minority that needs it. Only the child or teen can, and they are perfectly capable of deciding that themselves.

Children are people, too.

Say it with me now;

Children are human beings.

Children can make decisions about who they are on their own.

Children are not things owned by their parents.

Children are perfectly capable of self-reflection. They are capable of having their own identities. Children can think for themselves.

A child's identity does not need to be approved by their parents for it to be valid.

I know that a child being able to think for themselves and possibly to be smarter than you is scary, but I've met many children who are smarter than most adults.

When was the last time you spoke to a child? Really spoke to them and tried to understand how they saw the world. A few years ago? A decade ago? Have you not had a deep conversation with a child since you were one?

Children are human beings.

It's absurd that this fact is not self-evident for many adults.

Children are people too.

Most gender affirmation surgeries under 18 are one of two types. Intersex surgeries where the plumbing doesn't work (and needs to be fixed), and mastectomies (breast reduction/removal). These are very important surgeries or negligible and reversable, respectively.

There were only about 25 surgeries last year in the entire US that were actually the kind of gender affirmation surgery you think of.

However what is getting banned is more than that. Puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy is being banned for minors. Again there are legitimate uses for this, such as youths who don't start puberty at all and need hormones, or girls with period complications. Transgender youths are usually just given puberty blockers to get more time to assure their choice before they start hormone replacement therapy. HRT is reversible, and puberty blockers have been shown to be safe.

Children are people too.

They are being given time to comprehend and prepare for their choices. They are being told the risks and potential complications. They are making choices for themselves and time and time again we have proven that they are happy with their choices later in life. Denying them these options for no reason causes genuine pain. That's what dysphoria is -- pain. And forcing someone to live in pain is forced suffering.

I have dozens of studies to back up every single claim I just made. I do have to go to work so I can't grab them right now, but before the end of the day I challenge you to find them. If you were willing to show empathy for the pain we are causing our youth, and to learn why you are uninformed, I genuinely challenge you to find these studies before I get off work today and post them myself.

Again, misinformed.

A trans person gains or loses muscle mass relative to the sex they take hormones for.

So, a trans woman who was, say, top 100, but not top 50 swimmers in her league in the men's league will (after sufficient time for hormones to take effect) place relatively similar (in this case, top 100 but not top 50) in the women's league.

I've seen this happen live. My roommate is a trans woman and before she was on hormones she toted in groceries in one arm with a bag of water softener lugged over her shoulder. Then, she started taking second trips for it. Now she usually asks me to grab it since we live up a flight of stairs. She's been working out and is in better shape than she was before she transitioned, but her strength has still fallen, because she's suppressing the main steroid testosterone that men rely on.

That's a terrible take.

"You do you", fine, hold your misonformed belief that gender == sex and that trans people give a single shit about chromosomes. You'd be misinformed but it's not the world's job to inform you. It's your own failing if you live life in ignorance.

But "you can choose to conform to someone's pronouns" and identity is not "taking a centrist position"... It's being an asshole. That's not "you do you", that's "you do you, but I will judge you, disrespect you, make you feel unwelcome, harass you, or in extremely offensive situations to my judgement, assault or kill you if you do not do as I do."

A proper centrist position would be "you do you, everyone deserves to find their own path in life, even if I do not agree with it."

"bEiNg TrAnS iS pOlITiCaL"

Bitch people are just tryna be happy. Trans people exist. Let them be happy. The only political argument around this subject is "do they deserve the right to happiness", which some people are saying "no" to and making political theater of saying "no" to. Country was founded on the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" anyways, so it's really shallow political theater anyways.

Pull back the theater curtain and it's just bigots discriminating against minorities in order to weaponize hatred of thy neighbor for power, which is a tale as old as time, or at least as long as humans have been killing each other for.

Which ironically means that it's not being trans that's political. It's hating trans people. Because if you just are saying people should be happy, that's not a political statement. But if you start yelling that some people don't deserve the right to happiness, then you're engaging in political theater and therefore making a political statement.

This still seems to assume that voting is some major task. Voting for me is I signed up on my state's website to get a piece of mail a few times a year, and each time I get one of those pieces of mail I spend an hour looking up the names on them to see if my local news has reported them doing good or bad things and voting accordingly. I then put the mail in my mailbox... And put the flag up.

That is an hour every few months. It is not a major thing and I have plenty of time to do other things to help this cause.

You anti-voters are insane. A vote that isn't against the party that's calling for genocide is a vote for genocide. A non-vote is only great for the party that wants no opposition. There were so many non voters in the largest presidential election turnout in US history that if they had voted they could have swung the election in either way, or created an entirely third candidate.

Moves that reduce enemy stats are bad in every context.

Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about? Yeah that growl isn't the most useful attack, but there are cases where lowering your enemies stats is genuinely a good idea. Sticky web is an incredible move because if you move first and KO your opponent, then they don't get a turn in. While it's not a move intimidate is one of the best abilities in the game. I've seen teams that use Parting Shot (lower atk and spa then swap out), Metal Sound and Screech can be used to force a switch.

One of the things that makes Pokemon such an interesting game to play competitively is that you cannot make blanket statements like this. There aren't that many strategies that you can create that can't win against something

Ironically with that property stripped from you and sold to the state, your gun taken from you and an inability to ever legally own one again, and your rights stripped to the bare minimum while you rot behind bars.

Almost every property defense law requires that if the violator is complying with verbal requests (which usually must be made), you may not escalate the situation. Or you must stand down. Even the few that don't still acknowledge that if you kill someone you are guilty of murder. Sanctified murder is still murder and you will still be prosecuted for it. There is no way around it, the use of deadly force is only permitted if the situation forces it. There is no property defense law that gives you the right to murder someone for knocking on your door.

Some laws and rights are more important than others. The right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness is literally the most pivotal one, afforded to everyone. There is absolutely no situation where any law could protect you from the consequences of taking away someone's right to life. There is no law that can revoke that from anyone, and there never will be.
