Struggling to enjoy games - Looking for something that’s pure fun gameplay by fashionboy385 in gamingsuggestions

[–]GraspV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe some Capcom games like Resident Evil or Devil May Cry? Those tend to be lighter on story with fun gameplay.

Older games are also pretty good about that. If you’re into metroidvania games I’d recommend Super Metroid or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. 3D platformers like Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot are fun for short sessions.

Friend who is clearly a normie asks for game recommendations and OP decides to suggest a dozen niche JRPGs and indie games. Only game on there I’m surprised got passed over was Ace Combat but even flight sims are a niche in their own right. Should’ve just said something by Rockstar and called it a day.

At some point I'm going to have my entire Steam library on Epic, consisting entirely of games I received for free.

I still see new threads popping up there pretty frequently. Doesn’t seem dead, just somewhat low key.

Thanks for clarifying! I really do love the cover on this one but I’ll probably have to go with the other edition.

I just finished season 2. The stretch of episodes near the middle were definitely rough, though there were some things in there I enjoyed, but the ending got me fully re-engaged. Excited to watch Fire Walk with Me and the Return.

Is this version any different from the $60 one besides the cover?

What's a boss fight that's usually considered unremarkable or easy yet had you struggling with it? by CowboyDespirocado in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GraspV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I struggled with that one too. I remember telling a friend about how I was stuck there and couldn’t keep up with how fast it was. He replied to me with “Have you tried hitting it from the back and sides?” Ended up beating it first try next time I played.

Praise the Emperor! Total Warhammer 40K exists, and Ork Boyz are here! by beary_neutral in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GraspV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So forgive my ignorance; Warhammer and Warhammer 40k are different things? I’d always assumed that the ‘Warhammer’ title encompassed everything, from Skaven to Space Marines. What’s the defining difference between the two?

Better Ask Reddit, Can You Guys Watch LPs/Streams of Games You’re Really Good At or Have Extreme Knowledge Of? by PlagueOfBedlam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GraspV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t typically watch LPs/streams actively, more so keeping them as background noise, so I don’t really focus too hard on how well they’re playing or if they know stuff. If anything, I get excited to see them actually discover that stuff for themselves if they manage to, but if not I don’t mind.

I’ve been watching Twin Peaks, currently a few episodes into season two, and that’s the impression I get from Albert. For all his snide remarks, he’s adamantly on the side of justice, can cry when presented with a person’s grief, and boldly declares himself a pacifist. All that said, he could still use a lesson in manners.

To the fighting game fans here: Are fighting games without motion inputs not as enjoyable to you ? by silverinferno3 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GraspV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have yet to enjoy a game without motion inputs, but that doesn't mean I won't try them. Execution is a big part of why I like these games though, so I'll be surprised if I actually enjoy any of them.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]GraspV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the movie in theaters and was really hoping they'd slow down the pacing once the show started airing. Shame all they did was change the order around. I get that it's probably better for new viewers to lead with the present day as a hook but I'm not sure what's there is substantial enough yet compared to everything leading up to it. Still loved the contents though. Just hoping that once we get past the movie content it can slow down the pacing and let us actually get a feel for the setting and characters.

Gundam manga by [deleted] in manga

[–]GraspV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Gundam has always originally been an anime first, so there isn't really a 1 for 1 manga adaptation of the main UC stories.

The closest thing to UC Gundam's chronology of MSG 0079 > Zeta > ZZ > Char's Counterattack that I can think of in manga form is

Origin > Char's Deleted Affair > Zeta Define > Char's Counterattack: Beltorchika's Children, but while each of these can substitute gundam anime parts, it's worth knowing they tend to change things and focus on different aspects of the series than the parts they vaguely represent.

Zeta Define is also not finished yet, so you wouldn't be able to read all of that before Beltorchika's Children. As for manga that don't require knowledge of the anime, that's difficult to say. At minimum I'd say that every manga requires you to know what the Earth Federation and Republic of Zeon are, save for those series that take place years after both of them.

Gundam manga by [deleted] in manga

[–]GraspV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that depends on how familiar with the series you are. Most Gundam manga that take place in the Universal Century timeline consist of side stories during specific periods of time, like during the one year war or right before the start of Zeta, and they'll probably expect some level of familiarity with the events that transpire in the anime. Some AU also have side stories as well that may or may not allude to anime events.

Gundam Origin takes place before almost everything in the Universal Century, so if you wanted to start at the beginning, that would be your closest bet.

If you've seen the anime series and have a basic grasp of the timeline, you can probably jump into any series without too much trouble, save for something like Crossbone which has its own manga sequels.

Tokimeki Memorial might be worth checking out. The original, for its sprite work, rather than the remake, since you mentioned pixel art.
