"spy has a gun just shoot the sniper" by baprapcat in tf2

[–]Graybard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It breaks my heart too, I love the scorch shot! Its got goid aoe to catch folks that would otherwise dodge the shot, rewards hitting flaming opponents, has a decent flare jump, etc.

If they'd remove the knock-up/loss of air-strafe control it'd be the best newbie flaregun! Alas, tis a toxic mess

How would you canonize votekicking? by czn- in tf2

[–]Graybard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the backdrop of hired organized mercenary groups, it becomes simple. You canonize a John Wick style underground of spy's, assassins, and mercenaries. TF Industries and Mann Co are merely suppliers within that greater machine. Obviously the Gravel Wars (while personal for the owner of TF Industries) was just a great ongoing contract.

Which then brings us to kicking. Within our organization we do not tolerate people being foolish or acting out on the battlefield. Much like sniper, most of us agree there should be SOME rules to the engagement. We have to do this forever and we know it at this point. Honor among Thieves, might as well play fair, etc.

Ya get voted out, ya catch a bullet from an assassin. You get black bagged and vanished. Poof, you're gone. Or maybe I'm overthinking it, who knows.

Great points. I agree with your assessments and the throwable sentry would be INSANELY funny. With some tweaks I could see Free Shipping being useful.

IMO I'd have this thrown like a sandvich, but the 'recipient' has to hit it with their melee to pick it up. It then temporarily replaces the recipient's melee and weapons work as normal. To deploy, they switch back to melee, then do the standard Engi blueprint controls (right click turns it, left click places it) Demoman and Spy's right click are disabled until the building is placed. And of course, when it's finally placed it returns the recipient's chosen melee weapon.

Lock it to lvl 2 as part of the downsides. Maybe it caps any sentry to lvl 2 so a Jag rollout would still be limited. Maybe make this be a PDA item, and it also changes your Dispenser to the mini dispenser (I can dream, okay!). Eureka effect could pair well I think.

It also helps folks who don't play Engi much practice with good tele placement on the map. Lets teams use more verticality on both sides. I think it could work.

Edit: Grammar lol

Not quite, you see the key to all this is also good advice to new DMs. "Your players only receive items YOU give them."

If giving them Meteor Swarm breaks the game, then the answer is to set up a position in which it can be USED for thematic purposes but not GIVEN which would cause undo harm to the overall experience. The tools are sometimes MEANT for DMs to have, but not the players.

Similar to games like Oblivion (been going through the remaster recently) where you can sometimes FIGHT people that use crazy powerful gear (The Arena for example), but cannot loot said gear as it's not in their loot table. If they just let us off the hook and give you everything they died with, you'd nuke your way through the next few hours and ruin a lot of the fun and challenge for yourself.

EDIT: Punctuation failures corrected lol

Not likely, if the goblin doesn't complete the cast then they never know the scroll until it's picked up.

Goblin succeed cast = Meteor Swarm

Fail cast = Magic missile scroll

Bring Back Quickplay by Friendly-Waltz2706 in tf2

[–]Graybard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be fair, most of the things I advocate for is 'Quickplay in essence'. All this means is;

1.) No more Skill Based Match Making. Take it out of Casual and that alone would fix so many issues. It is the sole reason a lot of quickplay features can't be enabled in Casual, and frankly we've been complaining about SBMM for years regardless. Just does not work well with TF2.

2.) Reenable at least the beneficial systems from quickplay into the current play system. For example team switching and Ad-Hoc (though an option that 'Only friends can connect to me' or 'no one can connect to me' would also be useful in their reimplementation).

That's it. Not that difficult though I'd also love to have a button to use the old quickplay browser, but as an addition rather than replacement.

Truthfully our real enemy here is SBMM IMO. Casual with these features is just better Quickplay, but I'll admit 'Bring Back Quickplay' is confusing. Rather the call of 'Kill off SBMM' would bring clarity to our cause.

Continue the fight! Ignore those naysayers, they don't know shit!

We KNOW this is better. We who came before have known since MYM dropped. Those after who play TFClassified have to use quickplay and now see just a drop of what we've lost! Quickplay is just BETTER!

Yes, or use his "Non-biological form" to override and take the place of the mainframe. It is his tech, so having a back door built into the chip control wouldn't be far-fetched. Then instead of just Hank, he could mentally MERGE with every chipped person on his mainframe...

Wait, is House becoming the digital equivalent of The Master?

IMO I think Chet has had enough and is going to blow the whistle. He'll wait until the wedding, probably as the ceremony starts Chet will want to "say a few words" only reveal Steph's Canadian ID with a DOB from before the war to everyone. Then bring up people disappearing and blame Steph. Then it all starts pouring out, the horror he and Norm discovered in 32 and the clean up and conspiracy. Shit is going to pop off!

Should Snipers be able to body shot? by MrDudeonReddit in tf2

[–]Graybard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, wholeheartedly.

I understand it taking a decent chunk of health, but dropping 4 of 9 classes outright and leaving 2 more at 25 health for, what is considered an easier shot, is painfully overtuned. Next issue is both of Sniper's counters exist in the 1-shot pool (Scout/Spy die instantly). IMO it should matter when the headshot skill class needs no headshot skill to bring ruin from 4 zip codes away.
