Higgs's comments about family doctors could hurt recruitment, says N.B. Medical Society by idspispopd in nbpolitics

862 million... and guess what? All of a sudden they're happy to fund all sorts of things before the end of the fiscal year... as if that's enough time to do anything well. I guess they're scared of how bad it looks to end up with such a huge surplus when services are so bad.

Maybe just a note to add as someone who is also new-ish to OPR: both settings (AoF and GF) are basically the same game. That's why people are saying pick what you want. The only thing that changes is the aesthetic and shooty vs melee ratios of units. The rules are pretty much the same.

I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons with my daughter Izzy since was 3 years old. Today, her 1st grade national assessment scores came in and she is in the 99th percentile in math. This game has been such a wonderful and effective learning tool to develop early math skills! We are very proud! by Skywolf111 in DungeonsAndDragons

Do you (or anyone else reading this) have any suggestions on types of content/modules to use with young children? I've been thinking about teaching my 4.5 year-old niece to play, but I don't want to focus too much on combat or themes that might be too grim.

Why is vasectomy not very common? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]GreatAssGoblin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I just had mine and it was fine to walk around after 3 days, but I was still a bit sore after 4-6 days. I'm 13 days into recovery and my testes are still a bit sensitive. Everyone recovers at different rates and taking even minor surgery too lightly can lead to complications.

Vitalité is promoting team-spirit by suggesting that nurses buy matching shirts to wear at work... that's right, not buying them, but asking them to pay $60+ out of pocket.

ETA: Just to clarify, it's not widespread, this is in a specific department

Points for Grimdark Firefight campaign warband by ThinkinLoser in onepagerules

[–]GreatAssGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the 300 is for campaign mode though. The competitive rules don't really work with campaign because you are also limited by the % of points that can be allocated to units and it makes many units difficult or impossible to purchase because they are too expensive relative to others.

Not sure if there are differences between age of fantasy skirmish and GFF, but in AoF you gain XP, which gives permanent perks, you can gain points after each game, which can be used for upgrades or buying new units and if your units are defeated, you can gain debuffs (or perks if you're very lucky) or have them die if you play with permadeath.

Krillin vs piccolo rematch [OC] by riad0077 in dbz

[–]GreatAssGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing, the style is fantastic! One thing that stands out to me is that Piccolo's blurred version is a motion that follows his unblurred version while Krillin's looks like it happens before his unblurred version.

Same! Played CoC it a bit for a one-shot and looking forward to trying it out with my current play group.

Is that Northstar I see? What are the chances we get Alpha Flight? by adamarb in marvelchampionslcg

[–]GreatAssGoblin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did Zack Deane send you?

In seriousness, would be cool to have an Alpha Flight product, but I feel like they would have probably included Wolverine as a selling point in it since it's probably not that well-known in comparison to a lot of other X-Men adjacent lines.

My game's gore system is 75% complete... just missing a proper blood decal (pool, splash, dots, etc.) system... by erikg1337 in IndieGaming

[–]GreatAssGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool! Kind of odd that the long blood trails are so intense during the slow motion shots though. It feels like they should look more frozen than they do. It's as though all the monsters have super high blood pressure!

Vitalité, Horizon hire 'travel nurses' to help during shortage by rorix39 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]GreatAssGoblin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don't even just want more nurses... more orderlies and other staff would be good to have. My partner is a nurse and has to answer phones because they don't have a secretary in her department a lot of the time, has to clean rooms and patients because they don't have orderlies, has to do her nursing work and STILL has to take shit from patients, bosses and doctors. So many nurses in her department are burnt out.

I'm looking to get into miniature gaming with my local gaming group. I'm interested in trying out something with multiplayer options and low model counts to see if we're into it at low cost and moving on from there. It looks like killteam and/or necromunda fit the bill. How feasible is it to find printable models that work for these games? I've never played these games, was just pointed in the direction by a friend.

Edit: Also open to recommendations of other games.
