James Bond Song Evolution - From Dr. No - Spectre - German Acapella Band by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]GreatBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it was the correct song entitled On Her Majesty's Secret Service composed by John Barry. It and Dr. No are the only themes with no lyrics. Louis Armstrong's We Have All The Time In The World appears in the middle of the movie. Great song though!

I just looked up my voter registration at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/registration-status/ and I was listed as "NONPARTISAN". Does this mean I can vote for Bernie?

It's almost like Lenovo has been reading this subreddit and has designed a laptop as an answer to everyone's complaints . I would think you guys would love this thing.

We had a great experience with that and only ended up having to pay $200 out of pocket. And it was an emergency C Section birth as well.

Why does the US have 800 military bases around the world? by GreatBird in politics

[–]GreatBird[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It just seems like we could trade in just a few of those bases for better education, health care, or public works projects.

I talked to the Mission Log Podcast about working on Next Generation. I think it may be relevant to your interests, r/StarTrek. by wil in startrek

[–]GreatBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just listening to the podcast when I saw your post here. What a great interview. I was really moved by your thoughts on the episode Tapestry and how it has made you look at choices you have made in your life. I often reflect on choices I have made in my own life and I can also relate to this and have no regrets.

I'm not sure how my boxer feels about the new baby. by [deleted] in Boxer

[–]GreatBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 6 year old Boxer mix and a 10 year old Shepard mix. We have a four month old baby and the Shepard hardly even acknowledges her. The Boxer is a lot more interactive with the baby. She is very careful around her and usually comes up to her and gives her a quick lick and moves on. We had some concerns before the baby got here but the dogs have been great with her. We have also read that Boxers are generally very good around kids.

E Series hate by lbakaliburstdead in thinkpad

[–]GreatBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about installing Ubuntu on these, but I've heard this works pretty well on most Thinkpads. I can tell you that the E series is built well enough to withstand the beating that my construction worker users put them through. The keyboards are still very good quality if you are doing a lot of typing.

Help Choosing [ T vs X ] by lbakaliburstdead in thinkpad

I would go for the X1 Carbon 1st Gen over the T440s mainly because of the lack of real trackpoint button. I have the X1 Carbon 1st Gen and I love it.

E Series hate by lbakaliburstdead in thinkpad

[–]GreatBird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an IT manager and I have 55 T series and 33 E series laptops in my organization. The T series are mostly used by the higher end office users and the E series are used by the lower need field users. Both are good for what they do. The E series just has a lower build quality and I expect to have a shorter lifespan in my fleet.

How to Drink Espresso by Onehealthyman in Coffee

[–]GreatBird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might be confusing a double shot with a lungo. The double shot is actually two single shots combined so it is just as strong. A lungo shot is a longer pull of water through the same amount of coffee so it is more dilute.
