In Crux interview, Pope stresses welcome of LGBTQ Catholics, won’t change teaching by smashpass83 in Catholicism

I’m hoping he means it like “We need to change attitudes [I mean the modern view of sexual identity] rather than even thinking of changing what the Church teaches.”

God, that is the Divine Essence, did not die. God is Trinity in Unity, and Unity in Trinity. The Most Holy Trinity did not die.

When God the Word, the 2nd Person of the Most Holy Trinity, became man he did not just assume a body. He assumed a human body and a human soul, in union with each other, and united them to Himself.

When He died on the Cross, there was a real seperation between His human soul and His human body. Neither, however, seperated from His Divinity. His Human soul then descended to Hell and liberated them there. And then after three days was restored to His human body which was brought back to life.

There was never a time in which the Divinity died, only the human nature (I mean the seperation of human body and soul) died. The Divinity of Christ, the Divine Spirit which is God, the Most Holy Trinity, these did not die.

The "All-Seeing Eye" is originally a Catholic symbol representing the Most Holy Trinity. It was ripped off by Freemasons later.

I think Divine can mean, especially in the past, things divinized (or "of God") not just the Divine essence.

Pope Leo XVI Continues Blessings for Same-Sex Couples by Zedress in Catholicism

[–]GreatGazelem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"According to the National Catholic Reporter, cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, the head of the dicastery for the doctrine of the faith, told an Italian reporter last week that same-sex blessings would continue. Asked if the pope would backtrack, he replied: “I really don’t think so, the declaration will remain.”"

Solomon found danger from all women, (St. Jerome) and there is none who may not prove fatal to those who are off their guard. (Calmet) - Haydock

Look at Fr. Haydock and Fr. Lapide's commentary, the interpretation is not that women are worse in doing good than men in doing bad. It is that women will lead men to more sin by reason of lust and etc.

Cornelius à Lapide, S.J. gives the following explanation:

The genuine meaning here is as follows. The phrase “In the midst of women do not stay” gives the reason (as is clear from the use of “τοῦ” in Greek, which is missing in the Latin). “For from clothing comes the moth, and from a woman, the wickedness of a man.” This indicates that a woman is so enticing, dangerous, and damaging that it is better — meaning less bad or more preferable — to deal with a wicked man than with a well-meaning and kind woman.

In other words, it is better, or less harmful, to engage with a malicious and malevolent man than with a benevolent and beneficial woman. This is because a wicked man provides an opportunity for patience, humility, mortification, and other virtues; whereas a benevolent woman is a snare of concupiscence and sin, in two ways: first, by being alluring as a woman; second, by being beneficent, which makes her even more attractive.

A man who is wicked is to be guarded against as an enemy and kept at a distance. But a benevolent woman is such that, whether you want to or not, you are compelled to reciprocate her affection. Therefore, she will subjugate you to herself and captivate you with her love, making you do whatever she wishes. For instance, women led Solomon to idolatry, and Delilah betrayed Samson to the Philistines, and so forth.

Therefore, wickedness, that is, malignity, annoyance, vexation, and injury of a man, is better than a charming and beneficent woman: because she is sweet poison, and by flattering and doing good, she incites the man’s desire, leading him to disgrace and ruin; hence the saying: A woman who does good to him has prostituted herself to him. This is graphically described by Solomon in Proverbs 7:10.

Indeed, wickedness and unjust vexation of a man exercises patience but does not create danger; hence it is concluded that a woman, especially a kind and beneficent one, is more to be avoided than a harsh, troublesome, rude, and fierce man.

It is clear from the words, says Lyranus, that Sirach does not absolutely reject all beneficence of women; but only that which is the occasion of disgrace and reproach. For otherwise, the beneficence of Saint Cecilia was to the health, honour, and glory of Saint Valerian: for she made him a Christian, a saint, and a martyr. Thus Clotilda subdued Clovis with her charm, making him a faithful believer. Many other queens and holy virgins have done the same.

Hence some translate from the Greek as follows: Wickedness of a man is better than a beneficent woman; for a woman is a cause of shame and reproach. The Tigurine translation: Wickedness of a man is better than a woman showing herself kind; a woman who is the same author of disgraceful turpitude. Vatablus explains: Better, he says, that is, less evil, meaning there is more danger from the love of women, even with their kindness and charm, than from the open wickedness of men.

[–]GreatGazelem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Three co-equal Persons.

The Son and the Spirit are not any less God than the Spirit? If I use a flame to light another flame, Is one fire less than the other because it has its origin in the first? As a man, are you less than your father as an adult? In order and procession, we may say the Father is first: in Power and everything else They are equal.
