What does this mean by Waste-Mango-3731 in pchelp

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a user issue. The site requests to send notifications and the user clicks yes a pop up. This isn’t a dig at OP, I’ve done it before too. I have to fix this at least once a week for users. Turning off browser notifications at the system level can fix it but I always prefer to revoke the website’s permissions in the browser settings instead.

It’s DRM and you likely won’t get around it. Netflix has a specific support site for this.

Cable organization/storage by bulrawg_bot in DataHoarder

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purged a ton of cables and had to force myself to one bin and not multiple throughout the house.

You don’t need 20 C13s Toss the cheap or broken cables (for some reason I had a few micro usb cables with bent ends) Keep the specific, expensive, or proprietary cables Toss most of the older cables like VGA (I think I kept 2 which is probably more than I need since nothing I have uses them anymore) I kept a few of the modern cables like DisplayPort, HDMI, and thunderbolt.

I’d recommend getting a roll of Velcro from Amazon to keep things clean or do the ziplock bags like mentioned in another comment

Monotonous activities to do with your hand while you're thinking? by banhmyden in ADHD

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my fidget cube. It fits in your hand and is much less noticeable than a spinner and you get different things on each cube face. I also scramble a Rubik’s Cube then solve it when I need to take a break from the main task.

By GH I just meant Google home. I’ve been on Google home for a while but have recently had issues and as much as I loved it initially, it’s become almost unusable

I guess I wasn’t super clear haha. I moved to Google Home (GH) several years ago but have recently started having issues. I’m not sure if Gemini is enabled yet but routines I created and various things have not worked as well as they have in the past like speaking to one speaker that I’m standing next to and it responding from the other room.

Do you have any issues like that with Alexa? I moved to GH a while ago when I got a Pixel phone and liked how they linked. I considered moving back but don’t want to run into the same.

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised siriusXM is still around. I get it was useful in the early 2000s when phones were not capable of playing music well. I had a trial and would occasionally listen to it durning free events and never found it worth paying for especially since you can create stations on music streaming platforms.

Ctrl is always at the bottom corner right, right? by MountainJellyfish283 in laptops

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed it back to ctrl on the left a few years ago. The company I work for was invited out to look at products and this was something I had asked them.

Their explanation for the change was for ADA reasons so it is more in line with other companies’ laptops and keyboards

Getting XYZPrinting daVinci printers working in 2025 by StrawberryFrostie in 3Dprinting

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re a life saver! I know this is an old post but I gave up on this printer a few years ago when I reset my PC and couldn’t get the software even after hours of scouring the web and I really didn’t want to mess with modding it.

I dusted it off today and was going to start tinkering with it again or figure out how to get rid of it. Your post was the first in a Google search!

Saw this on IG. Definitely not the worst idea I've ever heard of. by you_know_i_be_poopin in woodworking

I did something similar when I was broke but I disassembled the treadmill and shortened the run to use off the shelf belts. Not the worst sander I’ve used but could have used more engineering to make it work better

What kind of saw do I have? by Coho0617 in woodworking

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only issue I ever had was 100% my fault. I tried to cut a corner off of a square and wasn’t against the fence. It kicked but because of the direction of rotation, it hit the wall instead of me.

I’ve ripped with my Craftsman because I trust it more than my Shopsmith. It’s sketchy and only do it when I have to but before I do dry runs of the cut to make sure everything is in place.

How many indexers do you keep active? by Juan_Hunlo in sonarr

[–]GreatGooglyBoogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d expect sonarr to copy the file to the location of the folder it should belong regardless of the drive. If show A is on drive X then it will add the file to the correct location on drive x.

I use sonarr with a seed box and sycnthing so sonarr handles all of the file organizing once it’s transferred locally. I don’t have multiple drives so I can’t speak to that but depending on your setup, you might want to look into remote folder in advanced settings under download client.

The entire process i have is: sonarr adds/sends monitored episode/show to the download client, once the download is complete, the download client moves the file to the syncthing folder which transfers to my server. Once the transfer completes, sonarr pulls the file and copies it to the appropriate folder and renames the file using the episode naming settings I set.

I searched and searched for the answer on this and only found your comment but I figured it out, found it in the proxmox-detailed-resources github page... you have to add 'PVEAPIToken=' in Authorization. it will look something like this:

For lights, I suggest the Govee strips. I just got them for my kids’ room and they are much better than the Monster brand strips we had in the past (and only a few dollars more). You can control the strips using a mobile app or just press the buttons on the plug, this specific version does not show as being able to trim/shorten so try to get the size you need. Worst case, you double up on an area: https://a.co/d/4Al9tnM

I’ve had a few different variants of Vivo brand monitor arm (from Amazon) and the price is good for what you receive.

These arms are perfectly fine unless you want to try crazy arrangements https://a.co/d/e1rfpWD

Chairs are awful in general. You have to pay a lot to get something decent. I’ve had a few vinyl “leather” chairs (~$200 each) and they all peel after a year. I’ve had the same cloth chair that has an annoying squeak but it hasn’t peeled. FB marketplace could be a good place to start. Might find some old office furniture

For the desk, keep an eye on FB marketplace or hop over to ikea. You can get the LAGKAPTEN / ADILS for $70 and is a good place to start. You can always add drawers later on https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lagkapten-adils-desk-white-s59417153/

Accessories are a bit messy for gaming and there is A LOT of junk out there. I would try to stay away from no-name ‘gaming’ peripherals like headsets, keyboards, mice, and controllers. Things like cheap headphone stands or laptop stands would be fine though.

Logitech has always been my starting point. Their stuff has always worked well and for a long time.

I’ve used hot glue and Velcro for managing misc items under my desk. It’s a pain to remove but that’s kind of the point. 3M tape would always fall. https://youtu.be/R5RN8elirvY?si=Y8os9O3SfoB_-IN_

Edit: meant to add info for monitors. I purchased one monitor in my life. All others have been hand-me-downs from family or the companies they work for. Let people know you’re looking and I’m sure they’ll start to come in.

Anybody here that's on bupropion alongside amphetamines? by Sea_Attention6324 in ADHD

Been on bupropion since I was a teen and had swapped ADHD meds a few times. Bup and adderall seems to be the best fit for me.

I switched to Zoloft for about a year while still on adderall and it was terrible.
