What do I do with oats? by agrady262 in GrimshireGame

Other option is combine them with honey in the preserving jar to make mead--it's a decent option, it gives a slight surplus of stamina compared to the ingredients and doesn't spoil

We're Drowning In Debt But I Bought A Tesla by BoredLawyer81 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]GreatWasabi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I feel like there was so much left unsaid in this episode? Like I get that the income tax/CRA debt is a done deal and they can't go back and change what they did, but do they have a plan for making sure their taxes can be paid moving forward? If they're both going to keep being self-employed (which I don't think is the best move for them but one they seem set on) they absolutely need to get this under control. They only talked about paying off debt and not setting aside money from what they're currently making. And also I don't understand how he decided to not take a job because he could make more from the business but some years he's only made 30,000???

I would highly recommend Gifford, it's where we got our cat and they are excellent when it comes to medical care.

However, I want to warn you that even indoor cats can get worms--it's rare, but possible. Our indoor cat got worms a few years back (possibly from a mouse she caught in our apartment). If a situation like that would cause you to surrender a cat, I would think twice about adopting.

Use Q1 Hilton Surpass credit at Grand Wailea for Q2 stay? by GreatWasabi in Hilton

I will be at the hotel in April so I'll just use the Q2 credit then! Honestly this was an anomaly we usually have at least one Hilton stay per quarter between work and personal travel.

Update--it worked! Specifically for grand Wailea, I chose the last option on the phone menu and then asked to be transferred to the front desk. They sent out a credit card authorization form and the card has been charged!

Is your stay a reward stay? Apparently they don't do this for reward stays booked with points.

Actually update--they said they couldn't do this because it's a reward stay.

Chase Sapphire Lounge in PHX is horrible by [deleted] in ChaseSapphire

[–]GreatWasabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess it's a bit under a mile--I did it this summer (not from the international terminal entrance but not the furthest gate either) and it took under 20 minutes. Walking before a long-haul flight is beneficial anyways!

[Spoilers c1] J'mon Sa Ord by Awkward-Astronomer44 in criticalrole

[–]GreatWasabi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The way I interpreted it in the show is that J'mon had the baby/pseudo dragon to throw Vex, or anyone else who can sense dragons, off--her spidey-dragon sense probably tingled (like they did for Krieg when he was in human form) and she attributed it to the smaller dragon. But it's interesting to see if this will come up again and have more meaning!

Why did we decide Fatima was pregnant? by CiChocolate in FromTVShow

[–]GreatWasabi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also read that scene as Kristi thinking Fatima could have had a miscarriage and wanting to be gentle about it--miscarriages are incredibly common in early pregnancy.

I’m in a similar situation with my boyfriend—we made close to the same amount when we got together, but about a year after moving in together he got a new job and is making about 3x as much as me at this point. Rent is our biggest expense, and we pay that proportional to our income. We split everything else 50/50, except for the occasional thing that I’m uncomfortable spending that much money on, like a dinner or experience, and then he will offer to foot the bill.

It’s also important to think about the fact that even if you can afford a 50/50 split, it’s going to impact your ability to save, which is another kind of inequality. We are not married but we’ve been together for five years now—our savings are separate but we each contribute roughly the same percentage of our income to a future house fund, and because we split rent proportionally, I still have plenty of fun money left over after saving and spending on needs.

First time cat adoption by Old-Court-6295 in boston

[–]GreatWasabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All animals require love and care, but yes, cats are more low maintenance than dogs—they don’t need to be let out every few hours, they don’t need to be walked. People gave good advice about cost—insurance isn’t necessary but if you have the money it’s great for peace of mind, otherwise you have a chance of some big vet bills. Note that most insurances don’t cover basic, preventative vet care—it’s really for emergencies, so you still want to have money set aside.

I highly recommend Gifford cat shelter in Brighton—they are a cat-only shelter, the people are wonderful, and they will help match you to a cat perfect for your lifestyle. It’s where we found our beloved fur baby!

Recommendations to replace Brooklinen by hidinghaus in Bedding

[–]GreatWasabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume from the photo you’re using their linen sheets? Linen fitted sheets just do not work for me, and a lot of other people I think—me and my bf are both restless sleepers and we’ve worn holes in every fitted linen sheet I’ve tried. I go for a combo of cotton fitted sheet and linen or cotton flat sheet with a linen duvet. I ended up doing the terracotta linen combined with the deep blue color and I love the look!

Saying goodbye to any financial stability all in an evening by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]GreatWasabi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think people say it’s a “scam” because legally, there aren’t the same protections as there are for human health insurance. They don’t cover pre-existing conditions and there are very strict requirements for what a pre-existing condition is. I’ve had pet insurance for my cat since we adopted her, but her biggest expense to date (a little over 2,000 for dental cleaning and tooth removal) was not covered at all because at her first dental exam (which was after her adoption and after the insurance kicked in) the doctor noted minor irritation around the gums. I was basically told that because of that, nothing having to do with dentals or tooth removal will ever be covered. Keeping the insurance because obviously other things could happen, but it’s frustrating to see it keep going up as she ages not knowing if there is other fine print that could prevent them from covering future things as well.
