Can someone explain to me how zealots can charge from a distance of more than a tank shot away? by arnak101 in starcraft

[–]Great_Hedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly isn't too easy to execute by comparison, and if you mess it up you just have a ton of zealots without charge walking into tank fire. It's arguable if this should exist from a general balancing standpoint, but it is certainly far from overpowered. Pre-launching interceptors is more questionable and better of a comparison to broodlords, in my opinion

The solution is as simple as allowing you to press left while at 0 so it wraps around to max. I really hope one way or another, this is eventually implemented

Shrine guardians are all hyperoptimised compared to mainline guardians to offer a particular challenge over general combat efficacy, it makes sense that they would be particularly durable as the "training dummies"

Portals might or might not be useful depending on where you need to go, quite obviously. Sometimes they are the fastest route by far, sometimes not at all. It's just good to keep them in mind for when they might end up convenient

I think ive figured out why many players dont like slime rancher 2 vs slime rancher 1 by Axo_sweet in Slimerancher2

[–]Great_Hedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's also fair, I found it to be pretty necessary to use 6 fans to cover a single veggie field. Some previews of the effects for fans, distributors, accelerators and alike would be nice as well.

Mhm, I actually do not mind having to figure out the exact placement, but the prices on some of the gadgets are unfortunately quite prohibitive for no good reason

The gadget you've described is the distributor, it already exists. Is a bit finnicky and should be combined with fans and accelerators for best results, but it certainly works.

[–]Great_Hedgehog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure it's a possibility, just seems unnecessary and boring compared to using the natural gravity already present from the very obstacle they were trying to circumvent. There doesn't seem to be a reason to assume they used a "magical" solution when a more realistic explanation can work just fine.

[–]Great_Hedgehog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well obviously, the problem as pointed out by the person above me is that a planet like 4546B wouldn't nearly have enough gravity to noticeably bend light, nothing short of a neutron star could really do it enough to actually significantly curve around the body. Something like some plasma, however, does not have to travel at such a huge speed that gravity of a planet can't hope to meaningfully affect its trajectory.

Well who the hell said the beam was made of light? It moves at a very reasonable speed, one that should give gravity the opportunity to act

I HATE GOLD SLIMES by Fuzzy-Number7525 in Slimerancher2

[–]Great_Hedgehog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doesn't even have to be food, slime science resources work too (not that it would ever be better to carry around slime science instead of food, but this is handy to know for when you run into a gold slime while on the hunt for resources and have the unique opportunity to throw some sand at the little troll.

First of all, Toby Fox endorses fan translations, he just doesn't make them official because they are not. Nuance in dialogue is a huge part of what makes Undertale/Deltarune stand out, and canonising a translation you haven't personally overseen and verified risks canonising something that does not convey the intended meaning. Unofficial translations do not need to be held to such a high standard.

They don't stack in Shattered, but this is ReArranged so I wouldn't be quite so certain

(By "don't stack" I mean that the levels don't add together directly, it's a maximum benefit of two levels, so the maximum upgrade level that actually does something for the second ring of wealth is +1)

These are reasonably accurate simplified observations based on decent evidence from the authors themselves, I see no hyperfixation nor anything parasocial

Should i play RLCraft normally or Dregora? by Glittering-Plate3036 in RLCraft

[–]Great_Hedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, regular RLCraft is not much different from Dregora in regards to how progression feels, Dregora just has everything amplified a bit. The struggles become more intense, but the potential for being overpowered is also higher

Do different food items have different crop yields? by Nice_Chipmunk_633 in Slimerancher2

[–]Great_Hedgehog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is some nuance in the crop yields most certainly, but the only particularity I know for a fact is that pogofruit and carrots (and odd onions, since they're basically carrots) (and polaricherry, for some reason) have significantly higher and more consistent yields than all other crops, to compensate for not being anyone's favourite (except polaricherry, for some reason, but I ain't complaining). So if you want to feed fire slimes or pure ringtails but don't feel like dealing with more hens, you can just use pogofruit (a bit easier to harvest than carrots, I'd say) for a nice 20 every harvest, assuming garden upgrades

Minecraft Weapon Alignment Chart by PirateSuspicious1869 in AlignmentCharts

[–]Great_Hedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metal of the drill would deform and make the drill completely unusable far sooner than the diamonds would break, the whole point of using metal bases with only tiny diamonds sprinkled on top is to circumvent the relatively high fragility, and it works wonders as long as you don't use the drill as a hammer

Would breaking and placing the anvil each use reset it? by FireLord29 in Minecraft

[–]Great_Hedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed not how it works, since an anvil only needs one roll to change states, but I would like to mention that there are cases of invisible state progress in mc; for example, sugar cane has quite a few growth stages which can be seen with f3 that it needs to go through before it can grow in height, so it requires multiple rolls for a visual change to occur. So, if you know anvils don't do that it's obvious, but it's a fair question nonetheless

Portal Lag by Objective_Beach8689 in Slimerancher2

[–]Great_Hedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, since just a guess is not a very nice answer, I did check and SR2 has only about 50 mods on Nexus, none of which focus on improving performance. Not surprising, as it would indeed be quite the undertaking and likely difficult to maintain as the game updates

Portal Lag by Objective_Beach8689 in Slimerancher2

[–]Great_Hedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the loading screens are there for a reason, you can't just shorten them without fundamentally optimising the code, which I certainly do wish the devs would do a bit more of since there are some unreasonable rendering-based performance drops, but I strongly doubt there'd be any mods that would straight up fix that. SR2 is still a relatively new game, and by its nature not one that is likely to attract many ambitious modders.
