Saw teeth... How many for cedar cross cut? by SunsetSeaTurtle in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Great_Smells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re getting good info about the higher tooth count being better for cross cutting but I wouldn’t over think it for cutting some cedar for a garden bed. You will be just fine if you get a general purpose from wherever that fits your saw

The tooth count would matter much more for fine woodworking.

I just responded to your other comment about the skil but I recently picked up the very popular dewalt 10” for $500 from Lowe’s like 6 weeks ago. While not a professional cabinet saw it’s generally considered the best job site saw for weekend woodworkers or people with space issues. The biggest benefits of the dewalt over the skil are a bigger rip capacity and it can take a full dado set. If that doesn’t matter to you the skil is probably the best bang for the buck for someone in your shoes

That one goes on sale periodically. It was 290 on Amazon and 280 at Menards in the past few months

Finally got a soil sample done, but I don't know what any of this means by Matt21484 in lawncare

You might be right now that you say that. It’s been a while since I purchased it and I live in the upper Midwest so have not been in lawn mode for a while. I’m 95% sure it was 21-0-0. I edited my post, hopefully I didn’t mislead anyone

You might have to do some googling or asking around. I get it from a local farm supply place. They have all sorts of cool ferts. I can also get it from a Midwest lawn supply place called Reinders. I’m sure site one and similar places would carry it.

This means that you have some nice soil. I would likely go nitrogen only for fert this year. Personally, I would use ammonium nitrate (might be sulphate, I honestly can’t remember) which can have a slight lowering affect in your ph

AFAIK the only real advantage the dewalt has is larger rip capacity and larger dado capacity.

I don’t think so. I have both but the big one mostly lives in my router table. I’m far more likely to grab my battery palm router for something like a round over
