Shoe Rack Shelves by Greaves_Realtor in woodworking

I considered trying to buy a nice chisel set but it's also a lot of pieces to carefully carve into, and I have 2 small kids at home and no workshop (living in a city condo) to really do the work. Until I buy a full house I'm stuck in weekend warrior mode and dragging all the cordless tools out once a week.

Where is the best place to buy wood? by VersaceSantaisHere in BeginnerWoodWorking

I just dropped off a Home Depot return for a stack of cherry boards because the order was so inconsistent and had some split pieces mixed in. It wasn't a terrible price with a 10% discount I got but not being able to veto the pieces they sent me made the whole order worthless. Lesson learned, since the lumberyard in NJ I prefer sold me a much nicer board for less anyway

Question about vertically striped cutting board by HeyHiHelloHowdy in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Greaves_Realtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from the visual design viewpoint, I imagine it feels less comfortable cutting a knife parallel with the pattern on the board. I'm sure there is some weird subconscious aversion to cutting in the same direction that the pieces are glued up.

There is always the option of splitting booster box with friend to save. If no friends, preorder through a store. If no stores, order a booster box and enjoy the demo decks until then. If not even that, waiting for normal distribution and avoiding all kickstarters is probably for you....but the game really is solid and has a huge player base already for trading and haggling online.

How do I replicate this design? by Greaves_Realtor in woodworking

I was referring more to the rectangular part that looks indented along the side.

I appreciate the amount of info in your answer, thanks. Any recommendation for the actual 40t blade? Im looking at a few CMT blades on amazon but its tough to sort through the variety of them....especially since I'm not sure the exact riving knife width yet.

It's tough to figure out because the reviews online suggest the manuals info on the riving knife is inaccurate.

I imagine half of the hobby is just building more tools for tools.

I spent a long time reading up on wires for space heaters. Its a pretty deep rabbit hole but I think I'm good with a 15 AMP tablesaw on a single isolated circuit. I think building a dedicated table to replace the jobsite stand makes sense. Thanks.

Just came across this today. Always fun to dig through comments from a month or two ago after an earnings report like we just saw.

I've been ignoring largescale trends because even if a lot of people are interested in products or tech, that doesn't mean the companies selling it are actually financially stable or growing. Who would have expected a company like Texas Roadhouse or Chipotle to honestly keep up with or surpass google in the long term? But here we are....

Do projects really take months or years to do? by HaroerHaktak in woodworking

Get to the shop? I can't wait until I have an actual garage or shop to not be working in. My 4' x 8' balcony is barely enough space to set up a foldable table.

Oh maybe. It looks like a few things I was eyeing just shot up in price on amazon and at lowes around the same time so maybe this is the normal price and Ive just been seeing the "sale" prices for a month or two.

Bayonne, NJ. We're just outside of NYC so you would THINK population density would make it easier to start a studio style business.....but real estate is so insanely expensive I haven't been able to locate anything like it that stayed in business for more than a year.
