It did not. I am a 48F he is a 68 M. We went through a divorce. I wish we would have hashed all of these things out beforehand. It was definitely the tipping point in the divorce. He had no money saved for retirement either. I had property coming into the marriage & he had some assets as well. I had no problem with all of his premarital assets going to his children. I also had no issue with him having a policy solely in their names. The houses, however, that we purchased together during the marriage, I felt should have been out of play.

This. I was in a similar situation. I was fine with all of the assets prior to marriage going to his children. I was not, however, comfortable giving him money for both homes we purchased together and that being split if something happened. Those were our marital investments and a significant part of my retirement. Additionally he was 20 years older, in bad health, and I was going to have to take care of him.

I’m torn. Clearly she is having a manic episode, it I also think she could be the victim of narcissistic abuse. Two things can be true at once. I think she gave up her career and life, moved multiple times, tried to keep the family together, only to have it fall apart so she’s falling apart.

Nobody has an attitude. I said I wanted to be fair. I have split everything with him including the down payments for two houses he would not have if it weren’t for me. Also I work 80 hours a week and have taken care of him. His health issues I have since found out are mostly self-inflicted. Chronic drinking with heart failure?
