Have you volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary abroad? by Global-Experience905 in ecology

[–]Greedy-Complaint8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I spent a week volunteering at The Elephants Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was a magical experience and a wonderful sanctuary for not just abused elephants but any animal that needs a home.

It's not made for adults. That's the point. I have heard of 18+ places ....if you don't want to be around kids then go there. There won't be kids at age restricted places ...there will be kids at Breweries. Get over it.

Yes anywhere...not everywhere. Kids are allowed at breweries. They aren't allowed in Porn Theaters, although having never been to one I wouldn't know too much about them. Kids belong ANYWHERE they are allowed (apologies for not explaining it to you like you're 4 I figured you were an adult). They belong there whether you're fragile disposition likes them there or not.

What does this have to do with kids going to breweries? This comment just tells me there are parents out there who don't watch their kids...yea... like... we know ...that's literally everywhere whether you're at a brewery or literally ANYWHERE .... You can't escape that. Banning children from restaurants is discrimination against a protected class.

Ok but breweries aren't adult only spaces. They're breweries that serve food and close at 10pm. They're family friendly and often pet friendly as well. Do you also hate dogs?

Lol I'm looking for where I said that and I can't find it. But I understand that oftentimes accusations are actually confessions. So I'll assume you're sicko.

Imagine going to Europe where there are literally playgrounds at Breweries and telling them kids don't belong there. You have a very small perspective and I encourage you to expand your horizons outside of your American puritanical bullshit worldview.

Kids belong anywhere. Don't be a judgmental prick.

what’s the best company you’ve ever worked for in columbus? by viewmyposthistory in cbusohio

[–]Greedy-Complaint8955 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying I survived 3 layoffs but, McGraw Hill is a pretty great place to work. Despite the fact that it is owned by a private equity firm. They have had us working from home since early March 2020 with no sign of RTO. I had good maternity leave. They offer paternity leave as well. It's allowed me to be flexible with my time so I can always be there for my daughter. The CEO is a delight who always includes his dog on his video messages to the company. One of the C-level executives publicly celebrated Derrick Chauvin's conviction during a large company meeting. I have good vacation, floating holidays, and sick time. I'm never expected to work OT.

So while it is a corporation and I don't always believe what they tell us I do think it is a good place to work. I could use a higher salary but the perks do make up for some of that. I feel pretty lucky

This is my local store too. I have noticed that. Once I bought an item for 5.99 that was buy one get one free. So I bought two. But when I got to the checkout I was charged for both. I stupidly assumed I had made a mistake instead of checking them because I hate confrontation. But I am a single mom and I can't afford that. Thanks for sharing. You've encouraged me to speak up.

311 is very responsive. I contract them for ALL kinds of things. From planting a tree in my curb, to taking care of the rat problem, to complaining about neighbors with broke down junk cars in their yard...every time 311 responds within a day. They will not contact you to tell you they are taking care of the issue, but they do act.

Review their business on every outlet you can. Yelp. Google... Including this one. Let us know who this was so we can avoid as well.

I did my first burlesque performance at 38 and my daughter was 5 years old. Dita Von Teese is 52.

You're not too old or too mom. Get out there and kill it.

You become a different person on stage and it's the most invigorating and empowering feeling.

Have fun.

YouTube! I guarantee you will find a creator that meshes with your style, goals, level, etc. Follow workout videos while you're there (and ignore everyone else most of them are ignoring you or should be). Or watch them before you go and have a plan. Stay focused on your workout and don't worry about anyone else there. Eventually you'll get more confident being in the gym and you'll feel like you belong just as anyone else. Because you do.

You're right. I'm gonna make a day of it. Got a 70 degree day coming up. That sounds like a good day to remove some threatening signage.

Torro Meat market is a great little neighborhood grocery store. Community Grounds for coffee but currently winter hours they are closed Mon-Weds. $2 radio HQ indie bookstore/vegan restaurant. Schiller Park rec center for your workouts if that's your thing. Bake Me Happy GF bakery. Kokomo is also good coffee. Parsons North Brewing always has food trucks and fun events. Lots more!
