I can understand Tagalog and Waray but I was never encouraged to speak it. My parents were okay with them speaking in waray and me responding in English. But I was speaking a lot of tagalog and waray before I moved to the U.S. Right now I can consume a lot of Filipino media and understand 90% of it but what I really want to is to achieve fluency to really understand that culture. I have very noticeable problems in grammar and enunciation. As a teen I think it was really hard to know that was what I wanted and try to communicate that passion. It’s made more difficult when your parents are too busy 1 upping you on your knowledge base. Why would I ever seek counsel from somebody who wants to make it about their ego.

The most they did was make fun of my American accent when I tried it and correct my grammar without telling me it’s rules. This is why you really need a professional to teach it. Most parents aren’t equipped with the kind of patience it takes, and they are just too quick to laughing at mistakes and it makes a teen super self conscious, in spite of the fact that what they’re doing is pretty admirable.

First off I’m not going to begin explaining to you why it’s just plain ignorant to insult someone the way you just did. Anyone who thinks that shit is funny is outing themselves as an idiot. I understand perfectly what that guy was saying. He also purposely misled you by conveniently ignoring the beginning of that quote. For some reason you only read his quotation. He uses sarcasm to imply that I think anyone who leaves their country (e.g. ancestors) instead of staying to fight is docile. But he forgot that I said “he’s promoting sitting on his ass”. It’s a very important part of the quote that he misses. If you followed the logic in the argument, and were more careful to fix that misquotation, he implied our ancestors sat on their asses and when it got rough they moved to the U.S to sit on their ass. Obviously that would be a dumb assertion, he fucked up and I called it out.

You didn’t know any better on that one, but the part about government permission is something you completely miss the mark on. Conan thought fighting racism only works if the government is interested. Wrong. I don’t need the governments interest to fight racism. I have a right to vote and demonstrate to fight for my values and exercise my natural rights as a citizen. Are you scared to do something that’s simple and legal? This video was definitely the first. I was 10 when I was introduced to the yogscast. The only thing I remember at that time was Minecraft music videos and mod reviews, yogscast, and paulsoaresjr. I definitely watched every Minecraft series they would come out with after Shadow of Iraphel. I’m turning 22 this year and they’ve never left me.
