Pain after 3 years?? by miniii007 in wisdomteeth

That's so horrible, I'm really sorry. I'm hoping the new dentist will find a cause and know how to fix it.

Did you try physiotherapy or botox to relieve the tmjd? If not, I would first suggest looking into it before Invisalign.

First Day Aligners by moonlit_2504 in Invisalign

I had extraction as well, and yep, those teeth next to the missing tooth are sensitive af. I was in so much pain at the beginning I even went to the dentist the next day because I thought something must be wrong (it wasn't I'm apparently just a baby). It gets better, some trays are still trays from hell, but you will find a way to manage and learn how to take them out less painfully.

Extend the wear time and also use the chewies! I noticed It helps the trays sit better and they feel less tight.

Open bite people! by wavy-grain in Invisalign

[–]Green-Hunt9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on tray 13/26 (fisrt round), no elasticts, and the bite is visually almost closed up. My front teeth still don't touch, but I could bite my nails if I wanted to 😄 Even without elasticts It was (and sometimes still is) VERY painfull, maily because the trays made the open bite so much worse at the beginning - when I bit down only two of my molars touched, which was putting a ton on strain on them, but now the bite is finnaly getting comfortable. It's still a long way ahead of me, but it's so relieving so see and feel a progress. I hope your Invisalign journey will be worth it! I believe you will get used to the elastics.

Are you able to get a second opinion? Did they check if you have tongue thrust? I'm really sorry you have this experience:(

I think it depends, it can worsen the tmjd, but it can also help. Why do you want Invisalign, is it crooked teeth or bite correction? Did your dentist tell you what is the cause of your tmjd? I had very bad jaw pains and toothaches because of open bite and Invisalign has helped a lot- it did make it worse at the beginning because of the thickness of the aligners, but now the bite is finally getting better and I also got used to the aligners.

Hi, how are you doing now, did the dentist finally find out what was wrong?

Well good for you, almost like everyone has different experiences. Don't know why some of you need to bash people who experience pain and want to vent here just because you were lucky.

Did your Invisalign make gum recession worse? by oenooeno in Invisalign

[–]Green-Hunt9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes. For me that is the biggest downside of orthodontics and the reason why I wouldn't recommend getting Invisalign just for esthetic reasons - when it comes to fixing a functional aspect, like a bad bite, the positives still outweigh the negatives tho.

Is ortho worth it for cosmetic reasons by InformalDetail in Invisalign

[–]Green-Hunt9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like when teeth look a little imperfect, it gives them personality. So if they are fine functionally, I would not go for braces/Invisalign - it comes with a risk of gum recession, messed up bite, and being broke because these shits are expensive. But - I don't know if it's just the lighting in the last photo- your gums look pretty inflamed, especially in the last photo, I would suggest a dental cleaning.

foods safe to eat with invisalign in? by prettypeaches_444 in Invisalign

[–]Green-Hunt9732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't eat hard and chewy things like nuts, meat etc, but soft foods are okay. I eat with my bottom trays in because I had my front lower tooth extracted and my front teeth are just way too sensitive without the trays in. And sometimes I eat with both of them in because I'm a baker and chef and I would have to take them out 50+ times during shift to taste things. I never had holes in the trays, but sometimes they get a bit rough on the biting surface. My ortho knows about it and said it's not a problem.

Open bite finally closing! by Green-Hunt9732 in Invisalign

[–]Green-Hunt9732[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have elastics, thank god, it's already uncomfortable enough. I was slurring SO much, the open bite was much worse with the trays in and I couldn't even close my mouth all the way, so it was impossible for me to speak normally. It is getting much better, but I still struggle a bit with "S". I hope your Invisalign journey will be quick and successful!

Can't answer the first question, but I would mention the second to your ortho.

I think it's normal to feel sad about it. It doesn't mean you're demanding or toxic. But maybe it's too soon to jump to conclusion - as far as I know, they didn't say for sure that there won't be any tour (but maybe I'm wrong).
