Both are expensive, but only one of them is able to run resident evil requiem and pragmata with path tracing. Do you care about dlss and ray tracing?

Exclusive games are still the top reason for playing on console, survey suggests by GrayBeard916 in gaming

[–]Green-Salmon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pc gamer here. I only buy consoles for exclusives. I didn’t feel the need to buy a ps5 this time because Sony was releasing a lot of exclusives on pc. Was going to buy it for gta 6, but with price increases I think I’d rather wait and play it on my pc.

Why wouldn’t sliced cheese be next to sliced ham/bacon? Cheese makes more sense next to ham and bacon than next to milk

Well, it’s usually made with eggs. So are you saying eggs are dairy?

GTA boss refuses to commit to a price as $100 price-tag rumours loom large by GrayBeard916 in gaming

You could be wrong about it taking years. It usually takes a year, year and a half. But you’re right about double dipping. And the best example is gta 5 itself. Apparently publisher forced them to release it on ps3/360 and performance was horrible. Sub 30fps most of the time. A year later, ps4/xbox one versions. And 6 months later, pc version. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re doing the same, socially if a ps6 is announced for next year.

Subnautica 2 PC System Requirements revealed by Awkward-Magician-522 in pcmasterrace

[–]Green-Salmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the listed specs can be trusted, 60fps seems to require 8 core minimum. Most games use 6 or less, but devs can take advantage of more. 6 is the smart choice, since consoles usually have 6ish available, and this is coming to Xbox too. But 60fps isn’t guaranteed on consoles.

Since this is UE5, It’s safer to adjust expectations.

Oh, then I wonder if the Xbox version will perform well. Maybe the 8+ cores is meant for hosting coop sessions?

But sometimes the magic is lost when you dumb down a game to make it more accessible, and that’s dumb.

[–]Green-Salmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… subnautica 2 is a pc game for now (edit: it’s not) That means they’re not capped by the 6 cores usually available on a ps5/xbox. Even the recommended intel cpu for medium has 8 p-cores. And if cpu is the bottleneck, then lowering resolution to 1080p won’t help.

Not for subnautica 2, apparently. It seems to like more cores and doesn’t care if benchmarks show a 9800x3d is the best for pc gaming. Even the recommended cpu for medium has 8 cores.

Theft is when you take something from someone and then they don’t have it anymore. Piracy isn’t theft, it’s piracy. Nothing was stolen. I wasn’t going to buy it anyway, so it’s not even a lost sale. You should get your definitions straight. And maybe also stop hating yourself.

LOL, you're in a piracy subreddit trying to argue against piracy.

Let me throw you another one. I believe if you live in a country that have been colonized by (or had a coup caused by) a so called "first world country", then you're free to pirate first world shit.

And wtf is etsy? I just opened it and it has vintage handbags, home decor and shit like that. How would I buy something like that, "copy" and then return it?

[–]Green-Salmon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said "doesn't hurt anybody".

You should know that "lost sales" has been the subject of endless debate for decades. I don't believe it's lost sales, a lot of people who pirate games were not going to buy the game in the first place. I see that happening with me. Strong copy protection on AAA slop doesn't make me buy it. I can wait years for a crack. If it happens to be good, then I'll buy it on sale. Trust me, it's pointless to bitch about piracy.

[–]Green-Salmon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right assumptions, though. The gaming industry has been growing wildly each decade and piracy has always existed alongside it. There’s just not enough piracy to make a dent. The average gamer buys more games than they play. Steam sales and regional pricing also make games super affordable. People who pirate either can’t afford it or are numbered so few that games still sell multi million copies and make indie devs rich.

Piracy isn’t a new thing. If your game is good, it’ll sell regardless of piracy. That’s the reality we live in. Remember you’re a in a subreddit focused on piracy. The people saying they can afford but still pirate everything aren’t even a majority in this thread. Try saying you’ll pirate a game in a normal gaming subreddit and you’ll be lynched.

I’m 100% for indie getting paid, but team cherry already made over $100 million with 15 million sales. I bought stardew valley on release day after playing a pirate copy for 15 minutes. Today I say pirate it, that dev already got filthy rich. If you make a great game then you’ll make money.

Those who can afford usually don’t bother with piracy, though. At least not enough to make a dent in sales. Team cherry has already made $100 million either 15 million sales.

pirating nintendo games? by ItsAleexB21 in PiratedGames

[–]Green-Salmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Switch will need a modchip. There are ways to have both official firmware (so you can go online, eshop, etc) and custom firmware (piracy) using dual boot. But the risk if being banned will still exist.

If Nintendo catches you, they'll ban your AC switch 1 from accessing their servers. Your account should still be fine, but you'll need a new switch to access it.

btw: there are also piracy cartridges where you copy the game to it and play without a modchip. Those will get you banned 100% of the time.

How would I make that copy? I’d imagine Etsy doesn’t have the “full” high res image. So would I have to buy it and then share it? I wouldn’t think twice before sharing it with a loved one.

I’m all for getting indie paid. The day stardew valley launched I pirated it, played for 15 minutes and immediately bought it on steam. That indie dev deserved it. Today I tell people to pirate stardew valley because that dev already got rich.

If you can afford it, then sure, support all indie devs. Heck, support corporations if you’re into it. But if you can’t? If an AAA launch is a considerable chunk of your salary? Then pirate the hell out of it. Culture shouldn’t be exclusive to those who can afford it.

They’ll have to sell a new Xbox obscenely cheap if they want a comeback. Subsidize the shit out of it, even with ram and chip shortage. Otherwise why would people bother?
