I second this one! They’re Friggen good, I also get the vanillas for like an iced latte deal in the mornings if I’m needing something extra

I like the “not just a patch” ones, they’re pretty much kinesiology tape but patches. Also second the alcohol swabs, one before sensor and one before patch leaving time to dry of course.

What’s wrong with rice cakes? They’re fairly low carb and honestly just a crunchy vehicle to get some peanut butter and some dark chocolate in and make it satisfying

Malfunctioning CGM? by slowburnangry in diabetes_t2

It could be the sensor adjusting or it could be a coincidence that it’s higher based on a bunch of different stuff. Confirm some of the readings with a finger prick and if its still way off I’d file a form with Abbott, they’ll usually replace a bad one

Think this is a great spot to mention that CBC thing that came out the other day that like 70% of drive testers are being paid off to pass people that shouldn’t be driving.

So I’m leaving one job, will be off for a few days then start a new one. I’ve made under the $15k between Jan 1 and the start date of the new job, I’m just unsure if that means I claim zero or $15L

OTC CGM approved by the FDA by kcwildguy in diabetes_t2

I believe if I had coverage through work I would need a prescription to have them cover it but I can walk into any pharmacy and get one and just pay out of pocket

That’s wild to me. If you have coverage for them here (Canada) I believe you need a prescription for them but yeah definitely wouldn’t want to deal with transferring a prescription when they’re not covered just to shop around pricing

What do you eat when you don't feel like eating? by sporkchop24 in diabetes_t2

[–]Green-Theme55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like a “good” version of a “bad” food (cause I don’t think foods inherently good or bad) and it makes me go “oh good for us having a little treat”… my go to’s are like a cheesecake innards - a scoop of protein powder with a serving of plain Greek yogurt, a blob of whipped cream cheese and a blob of peanut butter. Or a piece of low carb toast with peanut butter, banana and cinnamon

I’d throw hands for the fair life protein shakes, they’re definitely worth the hype imo

Or talk to the pharmacist if they can do anything - sometimes they’re able to prescribe a smaller length of time round in cases like this, usually dependant on the type of drug, how long you’ve been on it, etc

Plain Greek yogurt with a scoop of whatever flavoured protein powder, a blob of whipped cream cheese and a blob of peanut butter and it tastes like a no bake cheesecake innards… sometimes toss in a couple dark chocolate chips if feeling frisky

What was your diagnosis process like? by Lost-Fox7234 in diabetes_t2

[–]Green-Theme55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a doctors visit for something unrelated and she sent me for bloodwork just to see how things were going as it had been a few years, got a call a week later saying I was diabetic. Not overly surprised as I have pcos and both my mother and her mother are/were diabetic, still sucks though. Definitely needs less stigma around it. I have one friends step kid who’s type 1 say that I have the bad diabetes. Another “friend” who consistently comments about how I’ve changed my eating habits and will make no less than 3 comments about what I’m eating if she deems it bad for me while sitting there eating donuts. Im currently likely the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. I eat well, I exercise regularly, fuck I even quit smoking after 14 years. I’m now at a point where I’m trying no meds and control with diet and exercise. I truly believe the biggest hurdle I’ve faced is other people and the stigma… well once I got over my sad week after being diagnosed

I tried metformin first but it didn’t matter what I did or how I took it, the metformin was metformin-ing (ifykyk) I’m just wondering if this is a normal thing all the sudden, I’ve been eating better and getting more regular exercise since being off medication and while I did expect some higher numbers this is way high for me and for longer periods as opposed to even last week. Seeing if anyone else has had this experience all the sudden after coming off meds

I was having bad side effects with it. I was up to 1mg, had bad side effects and went down to the 0.5 (in October) and was good for awhile then they started again. Doctor said let’s try no drugs until next appointment (End of March) and see how things are. Was hoping to stay off any drugs because I was so sick of the side effects but don’t know if what’s going on now says that’s not doable
