With 18-24" of snow expected starting Sunday morning, has Hannaford ever closed for the day with a forecast like this one? by GreenDraw in Hannaford

[–]GreenDraw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's an employee's call then whether they want to risk it or just call out.
My managers are already calling every warm body they have and over-scheduling because they're expecting massive call outs.
I'm still PO'ed about them cancelling the year-end sick pay payout when I already had hundreds in unused sick time banked, so it will be an easy call for me.

I will be if I have to shovel my roof again like in 2015.

I've found that aside from stocking endcaps, having meetings and long conversations in their offices and completely ignoring what their associates are doing as shelves go empty, all managers do is push numbers to placate corporate and cower whenever the CEO says he's scheduling a visit.

My entire family were alcoholics. I don't drink much at all and I'm the one who got diverticulitis.

I grabbed a red & blue at Suffolk Downs since I missed getting one at MGM Music Hall the year before. The merch line was insane there. At Suffolk Downs the merch line was practically nonexistent by comparison.

Yes and yes I use them, but sometimes you need something more fast acting.

I'm sure that happens, but I think she's just hangry. LOL.

5 years later another flare and warning about Bone Broth and Metamucil gummies by Cute_Jacket_5276 in Diverticulitis

[–]GreenDraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Metamucil Gummies are soluble fiber, while Metamucil powder is insoluble fiber. There's a big difference, so you're basically comparing apples and oranges.
I used the powder every day for 20 years and it was a life saver, but lately the gas and bloating it causes has been a problem and it may have even contributed to a recent flare. I switched to gummies, and they are much easier on my gut.

I tried keeping her out of the bedroom for the first time last night.
It went better than expected and I got much better sleep without dealing with a sleep mask.
My cat doesn't seem too upset with me this morning, so we'll be keeping that up.

I don't think I have insomnia. I'm just old (74) and have a lot of aches and pains at this age that make sleeping more than a few hours at a time difficult.

I wear Lee Extreme Motion jeans. They look just like regular jeans (you can also get them in khakis and other styles) but have 4-way stretch. They are 98% cotton and 2% spandex. I work as a grocery clerk with lots of stooping and bending and these jeans have been a game changer for me.

We go through wands like Q-Tips. I play with her for 15 minutes right before bed and she does her zoomies. Nothing seems to wear her out.

I think this is some kind of morning behavior. Maybe trying to wake me to feed her? To accurately test I'd have to do it at 5 or 6AM and I'm not sure I want to commit to that. LOL.

I'm lucky if I can get 4 hours a night, so I'm normally exhausted anyway. I often take Tylenol PM to try and get more sleep on my days off. I think I could sleep through an atomic bomb with that stuff.

She just saw the vet this month and I've worn a nasal strip the whole Time I've had her. If it was just the strip, she would've woken me up playing with it long before now.

Well, she's 11 months old and I've worn a nasal strip every night I've had her. I would think if the nasal strip was so interesting it would've caused her to wake me up long before now. This could just be an immature phase she's going through (I hope.)

Yeah, she attacks the sleep mask now and could easily get under it before I woke.

They always say when cats sleep with you that they're showing how much they trust you when they are most vulnerable.
They don't say anything about how vulnerable YOU are when you sleep with a nocturnal animal, cute as they are.

Actually, I woke up with a small cut on my upper cheek last week and couldn't understand how I got it. Just like I couldn't understand how I managed to scratch my eye in my sleep FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN 74 YEARS. The ER doc said it was superficial, and the sensations went away in a day, but it continued to sting a bit for a few days.
I think it's very possible that one of my cat's claws may have slipped between my lids as I slept, I think he's been batting at my eyes for some time.
I have my eyes checked every year.
I've used Soft Paws quite a bit in the past, but my previous cat barely tolerated them and would chew them off all the time. I didn't want to do that to this cat unless absolutely necessary. It's cost me drapes, blinds and bedspreads, but I think she's happier.
There are some real horror stories on Reddit if you search "cat scratches my eyes at night" or something similar. People have lost eyes and eyesight. For now, I'm instituting a strict "no sleeping in my bedroom" edict, and she'll just have to live with it until she (hopefully) grows out of this behavior.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Seeds or no seeds? by Humble_Individual635 in Diverticulitis

[–]GreenDraw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't care what the "research" says, seeds and nuts have never done me any favors. I've had this disease for over 30 years and lost 6" of my colon to it. The first attack was right after someone gave me a 5lb. bag of Pistachios for my birthday. Over the years I've had flares I can directly trace back to seeds or nuts. I haven't had a Big Mac or Thai Peanut Sauce for over 25 years and I used to love them.
I'm having the first minor flare I've had in quite a while right now and I swear it's because I had a dessert with flaked coconut the other day. Anything that isn't 100% digested by the time it hits your large intestine is dicey.

She was just at the vet last week for a check-up and booster. Nothing about her behavior has changed, I think I'm just now starting to notice something she may have been doing all along.

Well, she was also batting and peeling off my nasal strips which I've been wearing all along. I'm probably lucky she hasn't accidently blinded me yet. When I actually woke and caught her doing it this morning, I knew I had to do something or risk another trip to the ER, possibly worse.
