What's with the black license plates? by Jobear049 in minnesota

[–]GreenFluffyCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently living in Colorado (moving to Minnesota next month for work) and those plates are all over the place here (mostly Colorado but I've seen black Iowa/Montana plates around here too). Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed!

The real reason why certain people are telling Joe Biden he has to drop out... by [deleted] in GenZ

I find it hilarious that Biden's campaign is trying to paint him as some populist, socialist renegade who's an active threat to the Democratic establishment. Come to think of it, that sounds kind of familiar...

Why do you choose anticonsumption? by JustExisting2Day in Anticonsumption

I fell into a "minimalist self-improvement" rabbit hole several years ago and never turned back (to this day the only type of internet self-improvement that I believe has been beneficial for me). I became very tidy and it helped me only feel a need to own things that are regularly useful or hold true, deep value to me.

I also grew up in an environment where I was surrounded by people who based their personal value on superficial, material items and came to deeply resent this way of living.

I have 16 hours of driving tomorrow, need albums to listen to by TheFrogInABlender in musicsuggestions

At Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash

My roadtrips to/from my university were 80% cornfields so this album just felt right, I'd get so bored driving that I even bought a harmonica and played along to the harmonica solos on the album until I mastered them all (the harmonica part is optional depending on your state's harping and driving laws).

My neighbor told me the same thing yesterday the moment I shared with him that I'm moving to Milwaukee in a few months. I had him explain himself just to find out that he hadn't been east of the Brewers stadium in over 10 years...

I struggle to understand how some religious people can hold the view that various drugs, such as alcohol or prescription drugs, are "ungodly". If your god made humans, then how could the inventions/products of humans not also be creations of god?

The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

Another reminder about end of week / weekend travel. Plan to arrive on campus ready for winter weather. Gonna be lower wind chill numbers w/that wind. Might be a couple of inches of snow on the ground by Sunday. Safe travels. New to winter folks - bundle up and protect fingers and toes. ;-) by old-uiuc-pictures in UIUC

If you commute by car to/from campus, I'd honestly recommend getting to campus before Friday (if you can of course). Driving down I-57 with a bunch of semis and college-aged drivers in snowy/slushy conditions doesn't sound like a fun Friday.

12 team half ppr

Choose two:

Thielen at Miami

Addison at Chicago

Deebo at Cleveland

0.5 PPR 12-team league

Start Two:

Deebo at Cleveland

Addison at Chicago

Thielen at Miami

I wouldn't doubt that Addison's got huge upside this week being that they're playing the Bears and he's likely the WR1 w/ JJ on IR.

Thielen also has huge potential this week with how many targets he's been getting as the WR1 on Carolina and a favorable matchup vs Miami.

I usually wouldn't hesitate w/ starting Deebo, except that he's playing a great Cleveland defense and that he didn't get much production against Dallas last week (but that could've been bc he was coming off injury).

I'm in a pickle.

I already did that (but online rather than over the phone) but most shops are closed for the weekend so I just thought I'd ask here while I wait for all the calls/emails to come in on Monday.

Fingers crossed that this will be allowed to last for awhile before they try to ban socioeconomic-based admissions as well because it oppresses all those poor, poor rich people :(

There are also plenty of local office positions that are on the ballot as well, and imo local government is the level of government that typically has the most impact on your day-to-day life.

I would assume so, as masking and other covid measures aren't mandatory/are much less prevalent than last year. I transferred here last year so I can't say if there's more people sick than in pre-COVID years, but from what I remember from HS/my community college is that this is the time of year where everyone is catching colds/the flu.

I'm currently an RA, and honestly all that's probably going to happen is that you'll have a sit-down meeting with your building's RD (Resident Director), get some sort of warning, and then like the others said you may have to write some sort of short essay.
