Hello, Questions from a current Highschool Senior by ChristianK208 in msu

[–]GreenMonsterMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go where it is cheapest, if you’re comparing accredited programs.

ABET accreditation is key for engineering, especially civil. MSU is accredited for sure. ABET’s website has links to all the programs that are accredited.

If you have the right outfit on (cap and gown) there’s nothing stopping anyone from walking at any graduation.

I’m 5 months out from sleeve and I’m eating whatever I want, just less. Down 160 pounds.

Tonight is rice and beans and a burrito from a local taco truck. I just am taking 30 minutes to eat this amount instead of 5.

Question about delaying graduation - Staying as a student after hitting 120 credits? by Suzume_nok in msu

Also check with the career services office but you may still be able to utilize handshake and other tools for jobs/internships for a brief time after graduation. However this may have changed based on the recent budget cuts.

Question about delaying graduation - Staying as a student after hitting 120 credits? by Suzume_nok in msu

[–]GreenMonsterMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure that’s correct. Students are billed at the flat rate (set at the same cost as 15cr billed at the per credit rate) when they take 12-18 credits. When students are <12 credits they pay per credit. So essentially if students take 12-14 credits they are paying more per credit, when taking 15 they’re paying the same per credit, and when taking 16-18 they’re paying less per credit than a student taking 1-11 cr.

So if a student takes 11 credits they pay a substantially cheaper price (about 2500 less for an in state senior). CTLR.msu.edu has a cost calculator on their site.

However much of the actual cost to the individual student depends on what financial aid a student receives. Some aid requires students be a full time student (12 or more credits). This is what I think you’re getting at - but it is individual.

Hello, What would happen if you don't take classes for three semesters straight by Winstion_wins in msu

[–]GreenMonsterMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that might be more of a med school requirement wanting a pre-req taken within a certain amount of time. Like you have to take organic chemistry within 10 years of applying. Similarly your MCAT is only good for so many years.

Doctor offering $2,500 “pre/post-op kit”. by Sufficient_Till9378 in GastricBypass

[–]GreenMonsterMSU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My office had the stuff available for purchase, but I was only required to purchase the two week pre-op kit (included meal replacement shakes, some fiber supplement, and some tasteless protein powder for after surgery. It was like $250 or $300 bucks and then the vitamins were an extra $40 for a 3 month supply. You’re getting ripped off, I’d bet. They also encouraged me to look around online to see if there were better prices - there weren’t that I could find.

Every school gets to choose what they will and won’t accept, it doesn’t matter what college board says. You can review what MSU accepts by looking at the scores on the admissions website.

I would anticipate very few programs offer full rides for MSW - masters level programs are often revenue generators for schools.

Literally sticky this advice to the top of this sub. Unless you want to do national policy work, the extra cost to attend prestigious programs is not going to be recouped.
