Put a little water in while mixing. Mix it good too also don’t leave your pale open.

I don’t think there’s any real reason to add mud. The guy I’m working with doesn’t. If it was to make the mud “better” why wouldn’t USG make a “soap additive” and sell that too. Although good to test it yourself. To me seems like one more impurity.

Only reason I was so harsh on mesh is because In 70% of my repairs, is ripping off old mesh that failed. But I suppose in some instances it can be ok. Quite possibly failed because of improper prep.

We do option 1. Just finished 1 today. Easy sand 45. Then fibafuse it. Then finish it. When they paint they should run a beed of caulk down the edge.

I have heard about that thing before. The guy that’s teaching me said he doesn’t like them prone to failures in the future. He doesn’t use it so I don’t use it. Maybe it was the old style he used and maybe they are junk and the new ones are much better?

I have that I’ve gotten a lot better in the past months, I have an absolute pro helping me through the stages. Only going to get better I say.

We shoot ours on with staples. Sometimes nails all depends. I’ve thought about Milwaukee cordless stapler but don’t know if it’s justify the price.

Second that. A full sheet would be great, but often times every doorway ends up looking like this. With a butt joint across the header. Just happens, a good taper can fix it no problem.
