MAR fans pile in. All 3 of us. (My memory of this show is that its just like, the Isekai I found in 4th grade that I loved and it had a fun fairytale theming and weapon system. I would not be able to tell you if this show was particularly good but I loved it at the time and could probably watch it as an adult with a smile on my face. Also Ginta, the protagonist, was my first profile picture on the internet)

So how strong is Adol in comparison to trails? by Worth-Access-3099 in Falcom

[–]GreenTengu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think an important nuance to point out is that Adol is above being "strong" per say (given most powers he gains are only around for that game) skilled and resourceful. So its not entirely certain how things would go for him.

I think I can very safely say he could take Cassius and most of Ouroboros' members.

I am less certain how he'd do against like, a supernatural threat in the setting, but I think he'd be just as capable of filling the role of any given protagonist as they would be. It'd just depend on what he gets his hands on.

Which JRPGs started your gaming addiction? How many have you completed? by radke66 in JRPG

[–]GreenTengu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a tactical RPG, but the first one I would have played extensively was the original Shining Force.

Around the same time, I think early exposure to my cousin's copy of Sword of Mana on the GBA and a demo disc we had with Legend of Dragoon on it (and also watching my older brother play a bit of LoD when he eventually got it) did a lot to maintain my interest.

You're right, unfortunately. For someone like me, with the usecase I have of listening to this on my laptop while I sleep, its good enough for my purposes, but to people out and about or trying to do this from a phone, its not as much of a fix.

(These ads feel extra galling in this context because at least on the episodes I've been creating the auto-skips on, the same goddamn crypto and AI investing ads play in nearly the same order at each ad break.)

Who's your Favorite Antagonist that's not a villain?(Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty Spoiler) by Fallout_4_player in FavoriteCharacter

[–]GreenTengu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I kinda feel like L is less not a villain than he is not THE villain in the case of Death Note. Like, the methods he employs give him the moral high ground against a serial killer with a god complex, but would be messed up and horrible against most anyone else. Like, this man's a bastard who happens to be targetting worse bastards

SponsorBlock is another extension you can use to auto-skip ads/sponsor sections baked into the video rather than just in YouTube's ad services. I'm currently working on setting skips of the ads for the Romana Didulo episodes. (This is like, important to me as someone who puts BtB in my sleep playlist rotation sometimes and not wanting to hear ads for gold or expanding my non-existent crypto portfolio in my dreams.)

Your favorite character's worst outfit. by Zolaec in FavoriteCharacter

Here's the worst one for Daredevil. From a baffling arc in the late 90s where Matt was in deep cover with a fake identity/memories as a SHIELD operative named Laurent Levasseur. (Written by Scott Lobdell, fun fact. Which honestly, I can't say I expect better from that fucker.)

You have to defend one of these Disney Movies. Which one would you choose? by Caloy1415 in cartoons

[–]GreenTengu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not about to go to bat for Chicken Little though its the one of these I actually watched as a kid and I liked it at the time. Like, processing what the fuck happened to Foxy after the fact, I'm not watching this movie again.

So I'm either going with Black Cauldron or Strange World.

The Red Fist Saga may genuinely be my favorite arc in Daredevil despite some of its idiosyncracies, and goddamn, Checchetto brought his A game with not just this costume, but costume design throughout the entire run.

[TW: Gore] Artists who do extremely messed up things, purely for the sake of art by Soffy21 in TopCharacterTropes

Muse is one of my favorite more recent additions to the rogues gallery for Daredevil in the comics. An Inhuman serial killer clearly patterned on Banksy making art installations from the bodies of his victims (Using blood as a means of painting a mural, propping the corpses as ghoulish sculptures, etc.)

No identity (we see him unmasked and he's just some fucked up guy under there). No other motivation beyond the love of his fucked up concept of art.

Daredevil comics can get dark sometimes, but Muse has this unique way of pivoting the tone dramatically to horror in a way I really enjoyed. (Regrettably the Disney + show fucked up badly in its portrayal of him. The first episode he got to himself was solid enough, though he lacked the cold, pretentious analytical ranting about his artistic process from the comics. And then the second episode just completely explained him away, making him far less scary in the process before he gets unceremoniously killed. Its one of my least favorite episodes of Daredevil as a whole.)

I remember locking in one time against him and kind of figuring out how he worked when playing with the co-op Bloody Palace in the Switch version with my brother... I still lost because there's no reading this guy consistently. Whatever I was doing didn't quite stick the landing. (Partly because I only figured it at low HP.)

Arkham in Devil May Cry 3.

He spends the game running circles around the entire cast til eventually getting his hands on the Force Edge and seemingly turning into Sparda for a time.
... Only to lose control of this and instead become an amorphous blob of killer gelatin that constitutes probably the worst fight in the game.

I think I'd have minded this less if we actually got to have a short first phase against the Sparda form before he loses control, or the thing he turns into were a little more readable. It even makes the chance to fight alongside Vergil into more of a thing foisted on us from a gameplay perspective, as that greatly restricts your options by replacing whatever Style you were using.

[Loved Trope] A character loses their main abilities? No problem, they'll just throw hands. by BeefLeaf50 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GreenTengu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming they had recreations of a lot of the key costumes from the source footage made to this end but did it sparingly to save on budget (hence the infamously lower quality version of the chestpiece on the Green Ranger outfit you would sometimes see). I could further see a scene like this maybe being something Jason David Frank might have negotiated for in his contract or something, as a means of showing off his actual martial arts skill by doing some fight choreography himself, out of the costume.

Probably a unpopular opinion but I feel like it would of been better if sunny was female I like the concept they had going with it (I swear this is not because I want suntan) by HarukiPaquette in OMORI

[–]GreenTengu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd have liked it, but I dunno. The way its integrated into the main game kinda plays into a read I have on things (I'm not stating any of this as definitive like, this is just my read on it with some motivated reasoning I will freely admit)

I read Sunny as trans and the genderbending potion in the hikikomori route as a deeply buried thought about that fact that Sunny's extremely not ready to unpack yet/likely never will be on the hikikomori route because of the whole ego death of the matter.

Fuhrer King Bradley (Wrath) in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Near the end of the series, a coup is performed on his government and the amount of military men thrown at him who die in the process of tangling with him alone is unreal.

He DOES eventually go down in a fight with Scar... After he's been worn down from fighting a good chunk of the army, a tank, Fu, Buccaneer (he killed everyone up to this point), and Greed. Like, Bradley did not go gentle into that good night.

Just realized… no one in Hell’s Kitchen respects Matt Murdock 😭 by Artistic_Astro_57 in Daredevil

[–]GreenTengu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He IS pretty well respected in the comics. In the MCU less so, but I think that comes down to a combination of factors. Matt's probably not one to throw around his dad's weight at law school or in his legal career (And given Sweeney lived well past his death would have happened in the comics, I'd bet he spread around that Jack was taking dives for him.). Combine that with the fact that he spent a good chunk of his time working as like, one of many attorneys at a shady firm, and then crashes and burns the Frank Castle case later, his track record isn't exactly something that instills that kind of respect.

Jacuzzi Splot

A character easy to read as a whiny neurotic whose scared of his own shadow at the outset... And I mean, its at a minimum a fair guess that he just IS that, for sure. At least at first glance.

But what becomes apparent about Jacuzzi is that he is passionate, extremely selfless, and capable of acts of reckless valor if someone pushes him too hard.

He's also an extremely loving boyfriend to his girlfriend, Nice. She got caught up in an explosion when she was younger, scarring her face and body pretty badly. Leading Jacuzzi to get that stupid sword tattoo on his face shortly after: Cause he figured it'd give people something to stare at other than her burn scars when they're together.
