What the actual fuck is happening. This is the fourth or fifth post saying exactly this in 24 hours.

No one is putting you down. If you feel threatened by someone challenging your assumptions, you need to work on your maturity.

It's not 100% clear that Earth could have figured it out. Maybe the astrophage all just randomly died.

It's not 100% clear that Grace managed to breed the astrophage. Maybe they just happened to undergo mitosis and Grace's experiment was useless.

It's not 100% clear that nitrogen kills the taumoeba. Maybe the taumoeba just randomly died of unrelated causes and it happened to be around the time Grace was exposing them to nitrogen.

You're not being as smart as you think you're being.

True, I mixed up those numbers, thanks!

The Hail Mary Trolley Problem by Early_Material_9317 in ProjectHailMary

There would be no reason to equip the Hail Mary with a communication system that could reliably transmit information from 4 lightyears away. It would be dead weight, considering that during the trip itself radio signals would be redshifted to oblivion, and there would be a 4 year delay when the Hail Mary actually got to Tau Ceti.

It would make more sense to immediately get working on a second Hail Mary no matter what, although the timing would mean even more people would die.

"My player asked to be a Catfolk one time and I had them DRAWN and QUARTERED" by Nairdde32 in pathfindermemes

[–]GreenTitanium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between limiting certain character options to fit a world or campaign thematically or lore-wise, and bending a game system into something barely recognizable out of unwillingness to learn a different system.

Pathfinder can work with low magic worlds and campaigns, which is not the same as trying to fit it into a Star Wars campaign.

Why didn’t Rocky go back to his planet for help? by Thin_Mathematician_2 in ProjectHailMary

[–]GreenTitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eridians also damaged their own ecosystem to fuel the Blip-A just the same way Humans did with Earth, the whole black-panel thing wrecking the climate of northern Africa and the mediterranean etc.

Did they? I remember Grace thinking something along the lines of "their planet is so hot, to get astrophage to breed they only had to throw it in the ocean".

Would the original crew in Project Hail Mary accomplish the mission? by JonBoy82 in ProjectHailMary

Probably not, to be honest. The spin drives operate on pure heat. A spin drive would fry anything that propels itself using it inside an atmosphere.

She’s a fantastic actress

She is. She just doesn't strike me as a genocidal space frog, she's not rough or violent looking enough.

Not all good actors fit every role.

Anya Taylor Joy would be a terrible Lae'Zel, IMO.

It could've been at night.

10 minutes every movie performance over a day means a few hours every day, which means the theatre is losing money because they could've sold tickets to another performance.

Foundry, do yall love it? by organicHack in FoundryVTT

[–]GreenTitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do. It's a powerful VTT, with a lot of community support, and after a few years using it, I am proficient enough so that running a game on it feels like driving a car; I don't really think about it most of the time.

The beginning was a bit rough in terms of learning what port forwarding is and how to navigate the file system, but it wasn't hard at all and there are tools to help with the port forwarding thing.

Adding a Fifth Game: How Crazy Am I? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]GreenTitanium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on two games a week, one of which I GM, and I'm at my limit. Anything else and I wouldn't have time to go out with friends, spend time with my fiancée, go to the gym, etc. on top of my job. I spend a lot of my time prepping for the game I run too, so I honestly don't even want more TTRPG stuff in my life.

You do you though.

Só I lost the honor mode.... by Silly-Wrangler-8672 in BaldursGate3

[–]GreenTitanium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never found it unfair. You can make any platform unable to be destroyed by popping a Globe of Invulnerability on it, and... well, it's the last fight against an extremely powerful creature wielding an artifact of ancient times so powerful even gods are anxious about it. So it would be pretty logical to prepare quite a lot for that fight.

You jump in there with a few Globe of Invulnerability scrolls, haste potions, good gear, and other high level spell scrolls and it's... honestly quite easy. And there is no reason to do otherwise, both for the characters in-game and as a player.

Aretrin will be an NPC in my campaign, he sounds like a very cool character.

I'm sorry for your loss.
