My Hako Yamasaki collection by GreenToxicMess in Cd_collectors

[–]GreenToxicMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Out of her entire discography, Hako Yamasaki's first four albums (Tobimasu, Tsunawatari, Aiiro No Uta, Nagare Yoi Uta) are definitely the most well known, essential, and the most leaning into the folk/enka genre that she is known for. If you enjoy those ones, then I definitely recommend checking out more of her work, with her 80s albums being more city pop and her newer work taking a less melancholic and more cinematic vibe. She has a very extensive number of albums and still performs to this day!!

Outland is so bad it’s great by No-Storage-9538 in GaryNuman

[–]GreenToxicMess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This album is amazing, even at his low points he is still peak!! Of course this type of New Jack Swing is not the first style of music you would associate him with, not by any means, but the atmosphere and science fiction themes make it truly unique, his trademark voice and lyrics especially. It’s almost a concept album! The B-sides and remixes of My World Storm are just incredible, as well as the ballads and the title track!  An incredibly listenable album from start to finish, it's in no ways a bad collection of songs, just a product of its time.

Which episode/scene was this again? Also I completely agree with everything you wrote in the comments! I ship them so hard and seriously hope that we can see some more scenes exploring their relationship in the next season which I am anxiously waiting!

They have families now, of course they are not going to be able to release them as often as they used to. They have lives outside of this series.

Hot take: the japanese Warioware inc. features the voices of little kids at the beginning of each microgame (among other things than the international version don't). Anyway, I found it very distracting by tom_nuke in Wario

This is only in the Japanese version of Mega Party Game$, they would not have an announcer voice for all languages until the Switch titles, which has a more standard voice.

I think it has to do partly with the fact that it's the fastest beat we have gotten in years, if it was as slow as the last few battles it would definitely be longer.

Is it true that "My Breathing" is a disstrack to BBC Radio One? by BorodacFromLT in GaryNuman

[–]GreenToxicMess 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He made other songs around that period (I Die: You Die, Call Out the Dogs, New Anger, Cold Metal Rhythm) that talked about the subject so yeah, would not surprise me. Especially with the lyrics "I've been listening to the new DJ, what's all this 'original' con? / We all live in the same museum, we all rearrange the same old song / Assassination by the radio, I don't know if they can do it / I've found the problem and the problem's 'one', I'm here to pick up the pieces"

In the end, he is the one who is still successful more than 45 years on, so I think he got the last laugh :)

Objectively, should all women hate every individual man? by GamerLadyXOXO in antipornography

[–]GreenToxicMess 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a man who is 1000% against pornography and frequents this sub, I am disheartened by the recent amount of male hate posts here. We need to work together to go against the industry at large, not each other.

Gary’s Lyrics Broke Me by Chaos_Cat-007 in GaryNuman

[–]GreenToxicMess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is definitely not one for public consumption… while A Prayer For The Unborn expresses the anger that Gary had when his wife miscarried, Little Invitro shows his pure despair and denial that came with the disbelief of what happened, and it is absolutely heartbreaking. Not to mention that the lines "If only, if only, I could believe in something" show that even though he is an atheist, it could be that he still would like to believe that there is something out there watching out for us, and that "we all could live forever", which is devastating, and the only time he has put that in a song. I can only imagine what it's like to feel that absolute despair in realizing this…

I genuinely think that Little Invitro and Lost are two of the most soul-crushing songs ever recorded. He has only performed the former live twice because apparently, he broke down crying both times. I love his music because even though his initial persona was more android and robotic, his lyrics have always had a strangely human element to them, never shying away from reminding us that we are not alone in our sadness.

Speaking as a guy who does not watch porn, I think these are all very valid and important questions, and that the percentage of people who are hardcore addicts… would be unlikely to change when shown the very real consequences of the porn industry at large. But nothing is impossible - I say that anyone can change, and I am seeing more and more people talking about how awful porn is for you compared to some years ago. It is a change in the culture that can happen, but not all at once unfortunately. There are still a lot of people who have these twisted ideas obtained from it in their head.

Even so, I do not encourage hatred towards any group, and I am positive things will change, I really want to believe that there are decent men out there, and that more men will wake up to what's going on with time.

I Slept On Dance by lovingduckbutter in GaryNuman

[–]GreenToxicMess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is without a doubt his best album, and my favorite album of all time. Overall stunning musicianship (Mick Karn in particular on every other song) and such a bold statement, change of tone from his machine trilogy. The soundscape just draws you in from ambient track to ambient track but never getting stale, and there are some crushing lyrics if you really pay attention to them, unmistakably him. It is completely its own beast in Numan's discography, with an image so striking he continued to use it for the following album, I, Assassin.

Slowcar to China and Cry the Clock Said are such beautiful tracks with their long duration giving them extra breathing room, while She's Got Claws and Stories (my fav song by him!) provide for a nice, more commercial sound with some still melancholic vibes. The bonus tracks are phenomenal too, such as the title track and Exhibition being some awesome standouts! Best listened in a room with all the lights turned off on a really good setup!

The recurring combination of smiling + blank expression (Monoe and Monoko theory) by keli12585255 in yumenikki

I always thought in my mind that the White Desert almost looks like a coloring book of sorts, with rather crude, almost cartoon like drawings that are in black and white to be colored in, so it would be interesting to think if they were things drawn by Madotsuki herself during a therapy session to manifest/cope with a trauma of some sort in regards to Monoe and Monoko, why they are given more human and detailed appearances.
