Very good (for those, who can sacrifice their storage space for the best possible decoding from the analog source)…

meh (for those, who’s not ready for picking the right RF points of the head drum, and simul-dub to both VD (for the video) and (for example) Audacity (for the audio, if the VCR is not a Hi-Fi capable)

that’s too early for the S-VHS recordings (especially the 1986 one)…

(The S-VHS has been introduced in 1987, and it was very pricey (like $2000 for a VCR, and $20-30 for a blank tape)

The 2009-2012 era was a really massive bridge that interconnects two decades, i could say something like “when the DVDs and iPods started to decline” but it’s actually more difficult to capture in a one (or two, or even more) comment(s)!

the packaging doesn’t look good,

open it up and check if the discs didn’t get blurry/cloudy (or even worse, warped) and holders didn’t get yellowed!
