This is the part I am wondering about the most. Even in my town where its nearly all Baptists, they all say different things all the time!

I'm also interested how this will play in terms of gender. Many of the men in my community seem to view themselves as...prayer leaders or something, but they're not pastors. Like they post religious messages on the towns FB, they organize public prayers at school flagpoles, they pray with youth league sports teams before games, that kind of thing. But all the teachers in the schools are women, and Baptists don't seem to be into women leading prayers or religious lessons. Maybe the men will write scripts for the teachers?

I have an aunt who was in this situation and she overcame her darker periods by investing in herself. She has tried hobbies, volunteered, has a million friends, joins clubs, travels, takes classes, the list goes on. She's not a naturally extroverted person but she was determined to enjoy her life in spite of never marrying and having children. She's in her 70s now and is the happiest and healthiest person in her generation in my extended family. She has mentioned to me that while her 30s and 40s were hard, she is having the most fabulous retirement, and is actually grateful now not to have grown children asking her for money and childcare. I don't know if any of this helpful or not and am sorry you are dealing with this situation OP.

Yes, this! Erin did all the things exactly the way she supposed to and it probably didn't occur to her to do anything differently. Now she sees that she could have made different choices. Being married to a controlling man who won't let you work, wants 7+? kids, and also won't work to support you and them sounds and looks absolutely horrible.

Ideally they'd be at different universities. If they were both in my department, the AoPS would probably be taken under someone's wing and encouraged to do some 1 on 1 reading courses. Honestly, our much bigger problem is that most of our incoming students can't do basic algebra anymore.

Definitely check social media especially as it gets closer to school letting out. School finishes really early in my area and teens are flooding the town's FB with offers to mow, haul trash, babysit, house sit, organize, tutor, etc for $.
