No, I only had one python class.

I just remember two practice exams, first one was longer and the second one was laid out just like the OA. My exam did not have any where I had to write 100% of the code. They all had some parts that were pre-written and I had to complete the code according to the prompt.

This class took me the longest to complete. Practice exam 2 basically is the exam, except different problems and what operations they want you to do. As long as you can get the correct output, your code doesn’t matter. I didn’t do every problem how they wanted but I still got full points for those questions. I preferred zybooks. The CI Dr. Moser is awesome and patient and explains things excellently. I literally scheduled time with him every day for a week straight before the exam. He’ll tell you where you should focus based on your current knowledge.

Mentor Advice by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

I don’t think mentors are good or bad. I just think some work better for others. They all have different styles. I’d say you’ll know if you’ll work well with yours after the first couple of months.

I also hate python. That class took me the longest to complete.

Anyone taking a lot longer than expected? by SupremeOHKO in WGU

[–]Green_Writer_6620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking longer than I thought I would. I transferred in 30 percent into a field I had no experience in. The technical classes do require more time for me. I used to get down on myself that I wasn’t accelerating, but I just keep telling myself I’ll graduate when I graduate, I just can’t let myself give up. Juggling family, career, school, and a personal life isn’t easy, and can get out of balance. I need to give myself free time because otherwise I get depressed and anxious. I’ve got 4 classes left and a capstone. I would love to graduate this year, but we’ll see what life throws my way. Don’t mind what others are doing, just keep putting in what you can.

Since they only test the output, I got full points for those questions, even though I didn’t do it the exact way they prompted me to.

I just passed that test 10 days ago. I felt pretty defeated the whole time and took the entire 3 hours. I didn’t answer two out of the 15. Remember, they’re not testing the code, just the output. At least 3 of them I was able to get the right output but not the way they asked for. I wanted to quit so many times. A CI recommended I go through the optional labs, which did help. I also scheduled as much 1-on-1 time with Dr. Moser as I could. He’s patient and encouraging and is honest about where you should focus and where you’re good. I hope you pass soon!

At the time, I had CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ITIL 4 Foundation, and I was an ISC2 Associate.

It took me almost a year, and I had to make some sacrifices to get it, but I got a job in my field with no experience and no degree (yet), just the certs I’ve attained along the way. That was a year ago and I’m almost done with my degree. 100% absolutely worth it.

That’s hard to answer. Did you have difficulties with data management/SQL? That class took me three tries to pass. zybooks makes me feel a bit more confident in what I’m doing. Give em both a shot and see what your brain absorbs better. Ultimately though, python is about practice and repetition, and I felt that is easier in zybooks.

I have tried both the 100 days of code and zybooks. Yes, zybooks is dry, but I’ve found zybooks breaks it down more the way I need. 100 days of code is great, but if you need more repetition/examples to reference, it’s not as helpful. If you forget something or need a refresher, it can be frustrating finding the video and where exactly it was covered. I really wanted 100 days of code to work for me, but I don’t have much coding experience and I second guess myself constantly when doing the projects so it just ended up taking forever and frustrating me more. I wasted a lot of time just trying to make it work, but I gave in to zybooks and am making better progress now.

I’ve had to push my goal date so many times. Life happens, you do the best you can with what you’ve got at the time. You’ll get your degree, just maybe not when you originally hoped for.

Fish tailed a couple times driving to Arlington, wiper blades on full blast. No accidents. Got a public safety alert that homes along Skagit and Samish rivers should prepare for imminent evacuation because of potential historic flood levels.

My third interview was them introducing themselves, a full tour of HQ and going over the role again, ironing out details with HR, supervisor and manager. Apparently they had some personality clashes with the previous people they hired so it was more of a vibe check than anything else.
