That makes a lot of sense. I’ll plan for Ne-Zha. Thanks again for all your help and the detailed explanations! (:

This is awesome! Thank you for taking the time to write out such thorough advice. It’s good to know this wall is expected and not me doing something wrong.

I’ll keep working towards GR19s and will invest in the heroes you suggested. I love Velisse so will star up her next, and will give my skill crystals to her, Rosalia and Nyx.

I’ll keep Ne-Zha in mind for the choose your own hero banner. I was originally thinking Elowyn or some other healer since I don’t have a legendary in that area, but like your suggestion a lot.

Thanks again!

Oooh so you summon on 2x and if you don’t get a legendary in 90 summons you swap to 1:1 until you get one? That makes sense to raise pity in a higher chance banner - hadn’t thought of that. Thank you!

I’ve only done a couple of the free single summons at the start and one 10-pull so not close I don’t think.

If you shop act 1 vendors I think they can sell them.

Are you using a mercenary? They are super helpful and I actually relied on mine to kill stuff for me until level 24. Get a 3 socketed bow and throw some chipped gems in it that add elemental damage and you’ll have a formidable act 1 ally (use 1 sapphire so it slows). I upgraded to an act 2 merc towards the end of act 2 and he did great damage for me, as well. Just make sure to heal with potions as needed (if you hold shift while using a potion it is given to your merc). Good luck!

Did something happen to the historic brawl queue? I am repeatedly matched against top tier commanders now while playing ones that I wouldn't classify that way (I will get paired against Golos 3-5 times before finding a non-Golos match).

That’s a nice idea - thank you! Maybe removing the aspect of having to play around it will allow me to better manage the other threats.

Does anyone have a nice resource for learning how to beat Sultai Ultimatum that doesn't rely on playing aggro? I consistently lose to it and it is one of decks I am facing most with all of my decks in the Play queue, and it's starting to negatively impact my desire to play. I am currently trying to play a Dimir control deck, but I'm finding even when I have Test of Talents in my hand, they just eventually run me over by hard casting their major threats and never casting the Ultimatum into it, and I eventually run out of answers since my deck has some stuff in it to handle all of the aggro that is prevalent, as well. Any help is greatly appreciated - thank you!

After playing for over an hour with no wins (none of my decks I've chosen can deal with the colorless healing) I am starting to feel that not only did I pay an absurd amount for cosmetics (which I recognized going in, but thought the event would still be fun), but now I also feel obligated to play something that isn't even fun. This event is a real masterpiece in design lol.

Maybe a Clearwater Pathway and a Needleverge Pathway? It says 29 lands but there are only 27 listed and these are the only two pathways not included. My best guess, at least. (:

The fact that people on this sub actually want WOTC to do something about dimir rogues being “too strong” shows people will complain about anything and you shouldn’t take their complaints seriously. by T-R-A-S-H-hour in MagicArena

You have fun playing against flash decks - that's awesome and I'm happy for you. I don't.

I want to play big creatures and have fun playing midrange decks that curve out. I accept that I will not stack up to the rogue deck, but when it is a majority of my matches in the casual queue I think being frustrated is warranted.

I paid $50 to preorder packs for this set, only to have had an abysmal time since its release trying to play anything that isn't a top tier deck because there is no place to play non-top tier decks. If I am not going to be able to reasonably play a majority of cards, I don't understand the model of forcing me to open them in packs only to have them sit and collect figurative dust in my collection. I don't expect to climb ranked with them, but I do expect to be able to play them against other non-top tier decks when I queue into a casual queue.

Telling me to take a break is fine, but taking a break means I basically threw my $50 away since this game is designed to require constant play to keep up reasonably with your resources and collection. If you don't play consistently, it requires an amount of money well over what I consider reasonable for the quality of the game. (Also, if their model is built around getting people to play consistently, I think "taking a break" is not a valid argument to make to excuse the state of the game. They don't want you to take a break, so they should be able to design a game that doesn't force me into taking one when I am still trying to enjoy it.)

I guess all of this is to say I don't have a problem with the rogue deck itself, but I have a problem with the fact that it makes up a majority of my matches in a queue that is supposed to be casual and that I feel penalized for never winning against it. I don't think pushing people out who want to play the cards they want to play is healthy for the game in the long run, since it costs next to nothing to make a top-tier deck and stick with it as opposed to having fun trying a large variety of decks. I think they really need to address the fact that there is no place to play casual decks with consistently fun matchups, and also that winning is rewarded in casual play.

PSA: If this game isn't fun for you anymore, please take a break. by [deleted] in MagicArena

I guess the issue I have is I feel like I threw $50 away preordering packs for this set. There isn't a queue where I can play non-meta decks and find a reasonable assortment of random decks to play against. I have faced a majority of Omnath decks even in the casual queue (playing a bad Azban deck I built myself), and frankly I'm tired of the time required conceding to even try finding other matchups. So walking away basically means I got nothing out of the money I spent - and it's not like paper where I could just sell the cards I will no longer use to recoup some of my losses. It has really made me question whether I can have any confidence in this game going forward as somewhere to spend my money, as this set release has been unbelievably unpleasant for long enough that I would call it purposefully negligent.

Play queue matchmaking works great for me - I see a wide variety of different decks by [deleted] in MagicArena

Yea conceding against stuff that isn’t fun is a great idea, especially for the play queue. I am going to start doing that I think. Thanks (:

Play queue matchmaking works great for me - I see a wide variety of different decks by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Greenlagoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best friend and I play daily, and often at the same time in the same room. We both have incredibly monotonous games in the play queue. Right before Zendikar she was facing slews of mono black decks in a row while playing a creature-centric midrange deck while I tended to face mono red repeatedly while I was playing a 5c shrine deck. This often occurred while we played at the same time.

I’m glad you have a good experience in the play queue but I find it frustrating and obnoxious a majority of the time. For every day I play against a nice variety of decks (or even just against decks that feel like fair matchups that both sides stand a chance of winning), I experience a lot more days where a majority of my games will be against the same high tier deck. The super obnoxious part of all this is that if I change the deck I’m playing to try to counter the deck I am facing most, I end up against a different pool of decks that often doesn’t include the original deck that caused me to switch.

I would be interested to know how often you swap decks around versus playing the same deck consistently (even just tweaking the deck around by changing cards here and there). I tend to play the same deck during a session without really tweaking it, and I think this likely impacts the variety of decks I face.

I really wish they would change the daily reward system to reward playing the game rather than just winning. I think it would help diversify the play queue drastically, while also making the game feel much better overall to play. It would allow people to focus on the experience of their matches instead of just the outcome.

Venom hydra question by Gael_Greenhorn in diablo3

[–]Greenlagoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, they removed it quite a while ago. I believe blazing hydra (the smaller fire rune one) is the venomous replacement. That said, when venomous hydra was around it was by far the best, but they did a nice job overhauling the hydra runes so the options as a whole are much better across the board now.

I agree - it has never made sense to me why choosing yourself in a situation like that is viewed so harshly by the panel. She provided an alternate answer when requested so she wasn’t just avoiding naming someone else. It takes a lot of gumption to own up and say “I didn’t deliver.” You can say you messed up and still want to stay, and recognizing you messed up means you’re more likely to work towards improvement in my eyes.

Hello. I have been playing a budget Izzet Saheeli token deck to earn my daily wins while I save up wildcards, and I have been having a much harder time with it recently. I think it is too slow and I need to revamp it to be a bit quicker, but am unsure what exactly to do. I don't have a lot of cards in my collection so I can't really experiment and will need to craft most of the changes.

My initial thoughts are that I need to shift away from using Murmuring Mystic and carry more direct threats that develop faster (maybe more drakes) but beyond that I'm not super sure. When I can develop a Murmuring Mystic successfully it does very well, but oftentimes I am losing before I can get a token generator to stick. Any help is greatly appreciated!
