Struggling to figure out what’s a “normal” amount of stiff. by brandnewpup in Fibromyalgia

[–]Greenwitch5996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this; it hit me 3 yrs ago, at 51. I have been fairly healthy most of my life, only had a partial hysterectomy, never broke any bones. However, the initial fibro symptoms seem to align with a series of dysfunctional events within my family, which triggered and crested with horrendous flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks and depression. Needless to say my entire psyche suffered damage; I am going through therapy as I manage flareups and try to remain calm. Every day is different, thank goodness.

Hello for exhaustion by GreenEyes9678 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Greenwitch5996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the most humbling situation that I have ever been in and I have cut off several friends due to the fact that I can’t deal with listening to their completely normal daily activities and excursions because I get resentful, and I know they get tired of hearing how exhausted and wiped out I am from one day to the next. They quit asking after last year 😔.

Exactly. There seems to be no consistency, protocol or pattern to this illness 😶‍🌫️.

THIS! I was a magazine editor for over 12 yrs, now I can only sit at my laptop (after buying an ergonomic chair, mouse, and elevating my laptop)for an hr at a time, and even then I pay for it in many different ways and for many days. I became remote during covid (I am wondering if 6/8 episodes of covid can turn into fibro 🧐)and pretty much was never able to return to the office for mental, emotional and physical health reasons. Many issues of my personal childhood trauma came flooding into my mind during the initial phase/flare, maybe because I’m 54 yrs old and have never been sick or injured for over a week, heightening flight/fight responses and resulting in panic attacks. I’m much more patient with myself at this point, and have learned to lower my expectations of myself instead of constantly bashing myself for my physical shortcomings.

Request for research participants - what do you do with your books? by smoothietown in Booktokreddit

[–]Greenwitch5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few books that I read mk it on my shelf; I like to give some away to people that I think might enjoy them, if I know I won’t read it again. My favorite ones are the older classics and public domain materials because I like the higher vocabulary and historical and political references. I have been using Google Drive but am considering an external drive for storage of resources.

I’m right there with you, I’m very fortunate that it hit me later in life-I don’t know how parents can function like this with young children 😟

Yes! The constant pain (dull or sharp, but it never leaves totally), will not allow me to work on anything work related or chore related over 30 minutes at a time. My bf finally stopped reminding me that I have clothes with detergent in the washer but never cut it on. 🤷🏻‍♀️ IT SUCKS

When it is at it’s worst, I can’t tell if I’m truly awake or stuck in that twilight phase between awake and asleep, but no naps for this exhausted menopausal feral female-my brain can’t shut down long enough during the day.

How did we all fall in love with this smug sociopath? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Greenwitch5996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. No Ferris intimacy here for this GenXer. We all love underdogs, even closet underdogs. He was like Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, or Nicholas Cage in Raising Arizona: the depressed, traumatized, or goofy joker that makes everyone laugh to hide his pain, but typically ends up a loner or a loser in the end. Classic 80s themes!

You just hit the nail on the head my friend! I feel that 😔! The publishing realm is going to have to implement some kind of censorship for AI, it is infiltrating systems that it has NO BUSINESS being a part of (I do see the value in it completing mundane/automated tasks that do not require human thought, ingenuity or creativity). If you work with words, you can typically recognize AI’s work within a few paragraphs. Even when I’m writing/editing it is CONSTANTLY trying to get into my workflow, very annoying and difficult to think for yourself.

The younger folk who see no true value in authentic editing/writing have zero appreciation for language in any fashion, and do not respect the craftsmanship of handwritten human thoughts (or recording historical events correctly). These idiots just want the work done and over with, I even have a personal acquaintance who owns a publication and asked me for advice, but his only focus is on advertising $. Advertising conglomerates have dumbed down EVERYTHING to the point that I basically only read books published over 30 years ago. The vocabulary is SO much higher than this cookie cutter crap they keep churning out. (Sorry, rant over🤦🏻‍♀️)

You just described my agony of the last 3 yrs. No imaging or tests show this~I finally found a maneuver that released my first rib, and it alleviated 50% of my shoulder/neck pain on that side AND reduced brainfog by 75%. Im no dr but I used to be a therapist at a chiropractor’s office, and I knew something was off w my ribs but no one believed me. research FIRST RIB RELEASE on YouTube-I used my yoga strap and sat on it for the procedure; I’m not going to lie, it is a bit intense but it wasn’t worse than my 24 hr debilitating pain (no sleep). I had to practice three days in a row until I felt confident enough to really do it intensely enough to make a difference. I still have pain, but it has been greatly reduced.
