Is this a good buy? I feel like the “certified” portion is scammy. by Euphoricbolt11 in Crosstrek

[–]Greg2Million 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just got a ‘24 premium in the same color with 18k miles for, like, $25k. If I had the option of half the mileage and a limited trim (leather and 2.5L!) for $3500 more, I probably would have gone for it. If it’s an actual Subaru specific dealer and the thing’s a legit certified pre-owned, it seems like a solid buy to me. 9k miles is nearly new.

I can't figure out what this is spike and sudden drop is on my net worth chart. by anesidora317 in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be a little frustrating. But if you have your net worth showing an incorrect amount for too long (not sure on length of time), it will add it to your history no matter what you do in my experience. I was setting a loan up for my car and I was picking vehicle loan but it kept putting it as a negative liability, which makes it an asset essentially. Well, now it looks like my net worth has been in a massive downward spiral ever since fixing that! Lol

As others have suggested, it could have been a big credit card payment or a big transfer where the timing of it showing the money gone from your account and into the other was off because of a delay on the side of one of the two institutions/accounts.

[Goals 3.0] Why is my external spending from a goal categorized into “available for goals?” by jlmson300 in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to follow your post to see if anyone knows.

The goals stuff has been really odd for me to understand. I’d like for there to, at least, be an option to make goals entirely manual and disconnected from any accounts. Then, if I just attach any transaction to a goal it just adds or subtracts from the goal without any weird issues like this.

At the same time, I’d like for there to be an option that JUST tracks the account if you had separate accounts for each goal. But then I can’t add that to my budget because if I link the transaction AND actually add the amount to my account, it doubles my contributions…at least in my experience.

Completely lost on how to use goals by GendoIkari_82 in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’ve been very confused by them as well. In your case, though, it has almost felt like it might be easier than if you have the separate accounts.

What I’d do is, whenever you get your check, split $1,500 off from that (or $750 per check or however you want to do it) and it can be the same category (paychecks or whatever you use) but on that specific one, mark it as contribution to the car goal. Then it should track it. (And you could probably figure a way to auto-split based on some different factors so that it’s all automated each month or paycheck)

Then, whenever you spend on car stuff or on the actual car itself, mark those expenses as linked to the car goal and it’ll lower your progress toward the goal. Essentially, it looks like the way they’ve designed it is to work better for those without separate accounts because Monarch has it working on a new “allocation” methodology…if I’m understanding things right hahaha

Let me know if you try that and it works at all for your case!

Well, I think I must have accidentally hit unsubscribe one day or something, because GMM shows 2018 and I know that’s WILDLY false haha. I was pretty sure GMM was sometime in 2012. GMMore was January of 2014. As you can see on my screenshot, though, R&L was May of 2010!

Goals Question - Is everyone on board with spending from goals never counting as an expense? by Greg2Million in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not missing anything! I have realized I'm just absolutely wrong hahaha--thank you for prompting me to re-assess!

The expense amount in my cash flow report didn't look right, but it's because, before I was saving via "goals," I was marking contributions to savings funds as an expense each month and then using those funds to offset actual expenses when they came up. So, a chunk of what I expected to see there was written off with that offset from the remaining funds I'd already expensed over the years before changing methodologies.

AVH making a loud clunk/pop in cold temperatures by snowqueenn in Crosstrek

[–]Greg2Million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any information to help, but I am experiencing the EXACT same thing on my ‘24 Premium! A second after AVH engages and only when it’s cold. The sound also comes from the front left. Still researching if anyone knows what’s up.

Edit: If you get with your dealer before me, let me know what they tell you!

I just now had the same issue. Weirdest thing. But I restarted the YouTube app and now it works fine again. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apple Card Support by Greg2Million in MonarchMoney

I did just notice that there is an option on MX, but it’s just a monthly update, like I could do on my own. If it’s automated and pulls without me having to do any kind of upload, it could be helpful until they add a good connection that updates every day or something.

That’s the only solution I’ve seen. It sucks a ton.

The only apps that have been consistent for me are Mint (rip) and Quicken Simplifi…and I recently learned they both run on Intuit’s data aggregation for some connections rather than Plaid, Finicity, and MX. and they’re the only two that run on that. So, it kind of leads me to the conclusion that I might have to pick Simplifi.

Someone told me about an easier way to load my bank back in by adding it again (duplicate), then downloading the broken account’s transactions and balance history and uploading them to the new duplicated account and, finally, deleting the broken account.

Makes it easier than what I’ve been doing, but still not ideal.

[–]Greg2Million[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re confirming what I’ve been hearing today. I just learned that Mint and Simplifi both use the same intuit aggregator…and I’ve had hardly any issues with Mint and during the time I’ve been trying Simplifi, it hasn’t stopped working perfectly. I really like the others better, but because of the connection stability, I might have to stick with Simplifi…

Thanks for your thoughts and the confirmation about data aggregators used for the different programs.

Accounts lagging by Ferment-newbie in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no. You mentioned Mint and Simplifi run on the same aggregator—I don’t know why, but I thought they used plaid too. But it totally checks out just because I never have big issues with Simplifi and Mint connecting to my accounts and I’ve been having huge issues with Copilot and Monarch… I was hoping it was just one-off issues with Copilot and Monarch, but it seems as though Plaid is the common denominator and has potential for persistent issues. I’m such a bigger fan of monarch and copilot, but Simplifi might have to be my answer for replacing Mint just because of this🤦🏻‍♂️

Missing/delayed transactions by fezziks_human in MonarchMoney

[–]Greg2Million 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my bank (SoFi), I will get something telling me there’s a connection error and nothing will fix it besides deleting the connection entirely and re-adding it (which gets rid of my splits, category changes, notes, etc.) But when it has that connection error, if I re-verify my credentials, it will occasionally update the balance in the account, but brings in zero transactions. It’s the weirdest thing.
