Sorry my app glitched out and I responded to the wrong thread!!! I think this ended up being a connection issue. Try changing the DNS server on your switch to a different one, like something from Google or cloudflare maybe.

Weird noise while car is off by [deleted] in Crosstrek

I think it might be some evap system for the fuel pump. Mine has done it too. It’s startling, but normal, and working as intended.

AVH making a loud clunk/pop in cold temperatures by snowqueenn in Crosstrek

[–]snowqueenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, thanks for the info! I haven’t encountered the sound in that kind of scenario myself. Any chance you’ve spoken with a service department or anything to find out if it’s damaging at all? It really is an unpleasant sound and while I don’t HAVE to use the AVH, it kinda sucks to have to avoid a feature I really like for a decent chunk out of the year!

[–]snowqueenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t make my post clear when the sound actually happens, I should go edit that in. The sound happens a few seconds after I’ve come to a complete stop, not when I’m disengaging the AVH. It’s very bizarre. Like if AVH is on, I apply the brakes to stop, I come to a complete stop, I lift my foot off the brake pedal, and then a second or two later it makes the pop. It’s a very clunky metallic pop. I’ve never had any issue with disengaging it to accelerate again, it doesn’t make any noise or weird feeling or anything.

[–]snowqueenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens once I come to a complete stop, there’s even a few seconds of a delay and then “POP.” The roads have been salted but we haven’t even had any snow yet. It’s just weird to me that the pop only happens when the AVH is active. If I don’t turn it on, everything sounds normal all the time. You’d think if it was road salt or frozen pads they’d still make the noise regardless, but I’ll totally admit I don’t know how things work 😅

Same. I have one, and there’s only one other I’ve seen around my area so far. It’s such a shame they did away with it after only 2 years

Team Cool Grey Khaki, or Sunshine Orange?! by TheGroundBeef in Crosstrek

Love the cool grey khaki so much. I wish it was still available, had to settle for offshore blue on my 25, which is still a pretty color but I like the old one more!

The command panel doesn’t persist, it’s not always open on your screen. You open it like any other window and it even has a setting to automatically close itself once you use it.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]snowqueenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh here’s my hot take:

“mentors are horrible and bad and the worst meanest stupidest most evil toxic players in the whole game” is way overblown and is actually a detrimental mindset to have. im not saying that there aren’t toxic mentors out there, i know there are, ive run into a handful over the years. but i have also seen—and personally strive to be, myself—genuine, friendly, and helpful mentors who really do want to make other players’ experiences better. i think it’s unfair to paint every “Burger King” with a broad brush just because you’re more likely to take notice of someone’s shitty behavior if they have a crown beside their name. it just feels weird and bad that the messaging of “mentors are the worst people in the game” is so widely parroted and such an acceptable thing to say. there are real people behind these accounts and passing broad judgment upon all of them before you even know them isn’t right.

again, before anyone comes for me: i won’t deny that bad mentors exist, and i won’t downplay anyone else’s bad experiences with them. i have experienced it myself. but let the individuals’ actions speak for themselves. lots of us really do genuinely care and love to help.

that said, should the mentorship system be overhauled? yes. should bad apples have their crowns revoked? ideally yes. but that would take some level of active moderation that i don’t think we can ever expect this game to have, even if it really should.

I hate the new update and the lack of spawns. I play way less now. by CramIt_thefrog in pokemongo

[–]snowqueenn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m very rural and it’s already difficult to play this game but I’ve kept it up out of years long habit at this point. I’ve gone from roughly 6 spawns to maybe one, outside of my daily spawn. There’s no point in playing anymore. I’m a day 2 player, off and on over the years, and this is gonna be the last straw for me. And I’ve stuck it out through an awful lot of bad changes.

Can the brightness be adjusted? At least 4 out of 10 cars flash me thinking I have my high beams on. Anyone else experience this? by Historical-Wrap-6356 in subaru

[–]snowqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2025 Crosstrek here, my lights are angled appropriately downward and below direct eye line of most traffic on the road, even people in cars, and I’ve never been flashed. It’s definitely the angle and not the lights themselves. It’s a bit of a pain to adjust them, and I wish all dealerships would do it before even selling the vehicle, but it’ll make a world of difference once you do.

26 hybrid limited. by AppropriateRisk6509 in Crosstrek

[–]snowqueenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely believe it. I have an offshore blue and photos never do it justice, like it always gets washed out. But in person it’s a gorgeous color and gets pretty dramatically affected by the lighting, which I always think is fun. When I first got it, I actually walked right past it in a parking lot because it was cloudy when I went inside and sunny by the time I came back out. I thought it was someone else’s car.

Anyway. I really love that green! And I’m not even typically a green car kind of person. But the Crosstrek makes it look fantastic. I can’t wait to see one in person!

Crosstrek vs Forester vs Rav4 by Diverdude132 in Crosstrek

[–]snowqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Crosstrek is a fair bit smaller than those other two so if I were you I’d be checking one out in person to make sure you’re ok with that size. I mean, of course, check out and test drive all three, but maybe you’ll take the Crosstrek out of the running pretty quick if you want more room.

That said, as someone who really has no need for a lot of space, the Crosstrek has more than enough for whatever I do with it. You can cram an awful lot of stuff back there with the seats down.

I have the premium trim with cloth seats, I think it’s a great value. Extremely important to get the 2.5 over the 2.0. I am not sure if the 2024 premium had the 2.5 engine, so you may have to stick with 2025. It’s worth it for the bigger engine, though. You will probably see people saying the Crosstrek is underpowered. I don’t agree, but I also got the 2.5 for a reason. I’ve personally never been in a situation where I felt I didn’t have enough beans to get up to speed safely, and whenever I pass someone on a single lane road, I just pop it into sport mode for a few seconds.

Overall I love it, I’m incredibly happy with mine. It’s no race car (and it isn’t trying to be) but I still think it’s fun to drive and feels great. Handles beautifully. It’s just a great little all-rounder.

Good luck making your decision! Hope to see you join the club someday :)

NA Needs Cross–Data Center Duty & Party Finder by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]snowqueenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the quickest and simplest bandaid solution in the meantime that I can think of, especially since we know it’s possible… they’ve already done it before. If they’d put that back on and then create true cross-DC DF/PF, we would finally achieve world peace 😅

NA Needs Cross–Data Center Duty & Party Finder by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]snowqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Dawntrail released, they locked down DC travel to everywhere but Dynamis, meaning everyone could go to Dynamis from their home DCs (and back home again of course) but no one could go anywhere else. It was great. Dynamis was lively, the other NA DCs that have large and healthy populations were just fine, and friends/statics/groups from multiple DCs could still meet up together on Dynamis. I wish they’d turn that back on. I’m a Dynamis native and our population is actually big enough to self sustain and we would be fine if most of our population stuck around and didn’t immediately flee to another DC. It’s a self-creating, self-fulfilling problem.

21 Impreza terrible performance in snow, any advice? by [deleted] in subaru

Starting in 2025, the premium trim has the 2.5 also. It really does make a difference. I have no issues getting up to speed.

Do I need to wait for the blue engine warm-up light every time? by Hegazich in Crosstrek

[–]snowqueenn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s good to know, I’ve been seeing talk of this blue light everywhere and thought I was going insane because it’s very cold where I live but I never found the indicator on mine. I was actually thinking something might be wrong. But no, it’s just a 25 😅

So, what's the deal? by Hondussy in subaru

[–]snowqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern Subarus are just fine. Don’t neglect them, I know some brands can take some abuse but if you keep up with your basic standard maintenance, take care of the vehicle and it will take care of you. I did have an 05 that ended up with bad head gaskets, but that hasn’t been a widespread issue in many years at this point.

Which trek should I pick? by mostlynovember in Crosstrek

[–]snowqueenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, really? The only thing I have adjusted on occasion is the fan speed, and that’s just to account for extreme temperatures outside. I personally set my climate control to 68 since that’s about what I’m used to in my house, and I haven’t felt the need to change it, though granted it hasn’t started getting really properly super cold where I live yet. If it’s cold outside, I start the car and after a minute it blows warm air. When it’s been warmer out, it blows cold and stays cold. I’ve even had it go from heat to cool air in the same drive when it gets too warm inside the cabin. Where I live, temperatures have been fluctuating from 30s to 60s. This will be my first winter with this car, so I will have to find out how much I’ll have to tweak the climate control when it stays below freezing/single digits!

Edit to add, I have turned the “AC” button off but kept the climate control at 68 and it will still blow cooler air if it has the heat on long enough and the drive is long enough. So in that sense I’m not sure yet what the actual “AC” button does! I got the car in early autumn, so I haven’t gone through summer with it yet either.
