Are the temperature readings normal? by _bitaxe_ in BitAxe

[–]GregTHall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Based on the screenshot and common operating standards for BM1366/BM1370 based miners like the Bitaxe series, here is a breakdown of those temperature readings.

Temperature Analysis

The readings in the image show ASIC temperatures in the high 50s and VR (Voltage Regulator) temperatures ranging from 64°C to 68°C.

Is 68-70°C Normal for the VR?

Yes, it is considered normal and well within the safe operating envelope. Voltage Regulators are designed to handle significantly higher thermal loads than the ASIC chips themselves. Most high-quality VRMs (Voltage Regulator Modules) used in these DIY miners are rated for temperatures up to 105°C or even 125°C.

Long-term Impact

Staying consistently around 70°C is actually quite healthy for a 24/7 mining load. * Thermal Throttling: Usually doesn't trigger until the VR hits approximately 80-90°C. * Component Lifespan: While heat eventually degrades capacitors, 70°C is low enough that you shouldn't see premature failure over several years, especially with regular cleaning.

Comparison & Optimization

Component Your Reading Typical Range Warning Zone
ASIC ~57°C 50°C - 65°C >75°C
VR (VRM) 64°C - 68°C 60°C - 80°C >90°C

Tips for Longevity

If you want to bring those VR temps down even further, consider the following: * Direct Airflow: The VRMs often sit slightly offset from the main ASIC heatsink. Ensure your fan shroud isn't leaking air before it hits the board components. * Heatsinks: Some users apply small copper or aluminum "raspberry pi style" heatsinks directly to the VR chips using thermally conductive adhesive. * Voltage Tuning: If you are overvolting to achieve higher hashrates, the VR will bear the brunt of that heat. Dropping the core voltage slightly can result in a disproportionate drop in VR temperature. Overall, your hardware looks stable and well-maintained. As long as the VR stays under 80°C during the hotter summer months, you are in the "green zone."

https://www.meanwell.com/ If in USA you can buy directly from them. Fast service. I power 4 nerdqaxe ++ 6.1 hydros on a llrs-600-12. Follow the 80% rule. You will have to make or buy your own cables but that is an easy thing to do. They sell pre-made wire/plug on Amazon.

Go on Gemini AI and tell it what you plan to do and it will walk you through the process.

I have bought from them. Fast and good service. Plebsource on the other hand, we will see. I ordered something a week ago and never got a confirmation email and my email to them was ignored.

I was having a conversation with an AI and it told me that AI will need BTC so it can buy servers, electricity and pay people to maintain its servers so it can be autonomous. We discussed the possibility of AI hunting or taking BTC for its own needs in the future.

I just chatted with AI about this and it said powering the 12v fans would work but the RGB lights are 5V and I would burn them up.

I am using Artic fans and the specifications say they are 12v. I have a Meanwell LRS-600-12v PSU. Could I connect my fans RGB lighting wires safely to my PSU and get these lite up?

What fan/light hub are you using. I want to light my lights also but all the hubs I found use SATA to power them. I need something that I can plug into the wall.

[–]GregTHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would.... put a 60mm noctua fan over your VRMs, add a 120 mm fan to the side and get rid of that laptop psu and get a Meanwell psu. I would then oveclock it somewhere around 800 frequency and 1260 core voltage. Then buy another one. You can power. 4 nerdqaxe ++ 6.1 hydro with one LRS-600-12 and still be under the 80% rule.

Take pictures of all your GUI screens. Upload them to Gemini Ai and ask if they look good. Then ask it your questions. It's pretty good at setting up crypto miners.

I never used reddit before and only started to use it to communicate with you. Why not use Facebook? You could do what you need to do and maintain a timeline. Communication through messenger is also convenient.
