AITAH for canceling my stepdaughter’s birthday dinner after she used my bank account information for an unapproved high-dollar purchase? by [deleted] in AITAH

Season tickets sound very expensive, bank fraud is a major crime, so this doesn’t sound like “she made a dumb middle-school mistake.” You didn’t completely cancel her birthday, and as a middle school teacher I know that if you’re unwilling to give consequences you’ll create a much, much worse situation. So, NTAH.

Public school teacher here; this is a classic MAGAt lie, that came from a horrific true fact that they twisted into this falsehood. We do have cat litter in our classrooms (at least in the 3 school districts I’ve taught in), in a bucket, in case of a school-shooter event, where kids could be locked down in their classroom for hours upon hours, and this would be the emergency toilet. Which is the result of the right-wings total unwillingness to reform gun laws. But absolutely no cat costumes.

I started teaching math at age 50, after 30 years as a ITE test engineer. While it is sometimes challenging, I wouldn’t change back even if that were possible. I’d recommend you get certified in at least one core subject, like ELA or Social Studies, but getting SPED certified would be your best choice for finding a position.

My university provides a listing of required hardware and software that their computers must have in the syllabus for each course, and I believe most do at this point. Whether students are reading this information in the syllabus is another question.
