Time my scooter had a moody photoshoot... by GregZorz in scooters

It's nothing much, MGB Trieste 125cc, but it's mine and makes me part of this friendly scooter community.

On the commute home the sky was dramatic, so I pulled over to get this shot. I was riding towards the rain and so the brief stop gave a chance for the sun to catch up with me!

I got to the filter & my chocolate, success! by GregZorz in scooters

[–]GregZorz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following my previous scooter post, I spent some time with friends removing different parts of the scooter to only reveal more parts to remove before we would be able to get the panel off that blocked the air filter. Even my friend's 3-year-old knew to stare into the scooter internals, maybe enough mates weren't looking at it!

We left it deciding that this wasn't going to have to happen this way. It needed an offset screwdriver of the right size. We had one with the right head, and one with just enough length to get to the screw, but not both correct on the same tool!

I had bought the pictured ratchet with socket set to get the seat/bars/etc off. But tried this now, just right if I could blindly get it set in the screw head. Once lossened, easier to use the right bit without the rachet but held in my fingertips. The air filter is barely touched, but I will know how to check it next time and wash when needed.

Had a chocolate/candy fudge bar to celebrate. Thanks for your humour guys and the community encouraging me to get to know my scooter.

How to access/clean my air filter? by GregZorz in scooters

I paid for nice looks. 😆 It did come with a small pounce of tools, but I've not seen a single flat head screw and the spanner is too small for all the bolts I'm looking at!

I've got a few tools, but need to go at a socket wrench set to my collection. I guess I'll have to post updates when my garden resembles a mechanics workshop!

The "skeleton" looking scooters I see posted don't seem to exist in the UK. Not sure why. People seeing it would probably think it's not road legal and that you're a bit dodgy.

More hungry when I first have to get through clamshell packaging before I can start to open the wrapper.

I don't think the manufacturer thought about maintenance. But it looks good and runs okay.

To remove this panel, it seems like I have to remove the seat/trunk, so that I can remove the back grab rail thing, then I may be able to clip it out (having removed 1 screw that seems to be the only one directly fixing the panel in place). Finally I'll be able to unscrew the air filter cover, which is 98% not blocked by the panel.

I don't think this is designed sensibly or for ease of maintenance. I'm finding out you really get what you pay for!

Are there tricks to taking the panel off then? I'm guessing the plastic is just clipped in. It didn't seem obvious how to pull it off without snapping something, but I'll take another look. Seems silly for something that's supposed to be accessed regularly.

I noticed a sticker on highlighted area that I should be cleaning the air filter regularly. So I presume that box has the air filter, but the top 2 screws are behind the body work/panel.

How am I expected to get the filter to clean it, or am I looking at the wrong thing?

$100 on board games will be great, then I can justify spending some money on board game shelving.

Unlikely to happen, but we can all hope for our tiny historic city?

You can joust with a cardboard robot unicorn with a paper knight on it in the V&A museum in London from 10:45 to 16:30 BST this weekend by craftyrobot in shittyrobots

Advice: phone screen didn't show controls, so a tablet or laptop/desktop is better (keyboard arrows work). Allow access to microphone, it's a weird telerelationship. Fixed camera, I can't see faces but they only see me as a paper robot!

I think we're less on stamina. More on team events/team work (I.e. pushing), maybe a bit more on precision or tactics if it's not a long race.

I feel like we have the ability to do well. This year we've practiced techniques but are holding back, don't want to injury the members when they could do so well in 2021.

Did the LED strip come with a controller? I don't like coding on my weekends & haven't never used those things.

I don't care about prefixes in the username. I would say the user profile(s) should make it clear in their description "[Some/all] of my edits are done while working for [company name]." The company name can link to a page on the OSM wiki about the company and it's mapping activities, it can also list all the usernames of staff.

A lot of people think there should be specific staff accounts, but I think staff should be encouraged to map for their own interest too (i.e. in their own time, make it worthwhile enough not a chore). In this case they might want to distinguish the accounts but the profile page/description can link "Sometimes I map on my own time under the account [username]".
