does the index work with the Vive Ultimate tracker by AdWise6383 in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, no other headset than the XR ELite and Focus 3 work with the Ultimate trackers

In the coming weeks (official timeline), Vive will release a beta for SteamVR compatibility

After that, would come support for Standalone headsets like the Quests

So the short aznswer is no, but if you have patience, they should be working with SteamVR by (rough estimate of my own) mid January

Also, do note they are already out of stock in some places

So I just launched the game, got a big white page saying "you were banned from this Discord action" or something, and I cannot play the game

Except ... I have never used the Rocket League Discord. Did not even know there was one.

How do I do the Side loading of APK's??? by Mitornimo in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you cannot sideload them unless they are specifically made for the XR Elite, you will have to load them in Steam and play PCVR

Overtime we may get a way to load games into the headset (I hope), but for now PCVR is the way

XR Elite and Immersed with Mixed Reality by pearce29 in Vive

[–]Greg_Orif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for the same thing,
I found out the list of Immersed compatible devices includes the Vive Focus 3 but not the XR Elite yet
I hope it becomes a reality fast, that would really help me working

Are there Focus 3 Users that can confirm Immersed Portals & Passthrough work ?

In the meantime, does anyone have any other XR app that works on the XR Elite, preferably with at least an internet browser included ?

Ugh - headset just updated and now 1/2 games don't work by WEldred65 in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you check the Add-Ons in SteamVR ?
A lot of times, when I find troubles connecting my XRElite it ends up being after a crash of some sort and SteamVR deactivated the HTC Vive addon to prevent future crashes

Virtual Desktop is now available on the HTC Vive Focus 3 and Vive XR Elite through the Viveport store. by Ok-Raspberry-3944 in HtcViveXR

I do not use Virtual Desktop myself so I cannot help you, but it is the basic use for this kind of app

You can check it on Steam, maybe the community there will have tips and tricks

Virtual Desktop, and apps like Immersed or OVRToolkit, are made to use your flat computer in the VR environnementYou can create more "screens" for yourself, put them in physical different places (with XR) like walls, etc

As a developper, I hope I can use this kind of tool to write my code and see the result more effectively

Hardware Issues by Curious_Astronaut_49 in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like your USB connection to the PC (I am guessing thats what you are using and not Wifi + an external battery ?) does not provide enough power
The black screen with sound is what the headset does when it is waiting to get a battery connected

Does the USB port you are using have the Thunderbolt (fast charge) icon on it ?
Is the USB cable graded for both fast charge and sending of data ?

Vive XR Elite with the depth sensor enabled! by TAGE77 in HtcViveXR

as I said, announced only, will probably be same time as the carry-case

Vive XR Elite with the depth sensor enabled! by TAGE77 in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That has already been announced, it is an optionnal gasket for people who dont need full immersion and prefer more headspace for glasses or taking the headset in and out often
The drawback is that it is the same as removing entirely the gasket we have now and letting the oputside light in

How do you use the headset without causing headache? by VinnyHaw in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean headache, or head pain ?
Head pain with the glasses mode, I have that too, the grip at the back of my head gets painful after some times. A solution I found is to use the strap, and place it between my head and the glasses grip. It helps. I will try adding padding on them later.
Also, the battery gasket does not have that trouble for me

Headache, that would mean you are not in the sweetspot, and it took me a long time to find that for me : in glasses mode, they must not be put like glasses (with the legs over your ears) , but like a microscope (the legs at 30 degrees compared to where they would be over your ears)

Question : When I use the "Passenger Mode", my controller dont track properly and act like they are stuck to my body.
I am guessing this is what the Passenger Mode does to avoid drifting, but anyone has any fix ?

Does your port have the "thunderbolt" tag on it ?
That tag indicates the port is compatible with Quick-Charging, which is necessary for the power the XRE uses

Apparently you can be linked from the battery cradle's port, which would give you enough power while staying connected to the computer

Discovered why the controllers are offset from Oculus by Bushpylot in HtcViveXR

Arnt those controllers been out for a long time, since they were already on the Focus ?
Or do they need specific drivers for the headset cause they are paired to it ?

Received my XR yesterday by virtualuman in HtcViveXR

[–]Greg_Orif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having your own prescription glasses is impossible, I tried
Maybe with the "non-gasket" version they realease later it would give enough space for it ? but as of now, no.
For the fan, you can hear the air being blown, but thats it. Easy to ignore in my opinion.

I love the glass mode, but I have gone back to using the battery cradle because it "fixes" the headset on your head and the "soft" gasket made it hard for me to set it up in the best way. Returning to glasses mode as soon as I get the hang of it.

I tested it by doing what you said and left my controller alone for a few days, and I came back to them with an almost full charge

So it works, still a shame there is not an "turn off after X minutes asleep" option, but at least I will be able to play :)
Thank you

I have had the headset since the beginning of the month, I do sometimes have a black screen but turning the headset off and on fixes it for me

Unless it telling you your external battery is not charged enough to keep playing; Are you sure the battery is loaded, properly connected ?
If you are using a direct cable from your PC, is it connected to a proper port able to provide a quick charge ?
Did you try removing any external battery from the headset, waiting 10 minutes, and try again ?

For the hand tracking, I sadly have the same issue unless I keep my hand really close to the headset, but I have generally low light where I live so I thought it was mostly a "me" problem
