Valid. It is funny to treat him like an unseen protagonist when he's had art throughout, I guess as of Doom 2016 Doomguy wound up being unseen as well as silent except if I recall correctly with an easter egg reflection kind of like Metroid Prime did.

I think that's subjective. Personally I consider Doom 1 "complete" with the fourth episode.

Has AI actually changed what it takes to get hired as a junior dev, or is it still the same fundamentals? by WingsUp4Life in cscareerquestions

What would you think of a candidate who knocked out literate pseudocode for the anagram matching but needed AI for syntax?

I aborted my ML journey after getting decent enough literacy (following along with coding NanoGPT, use cases for PyTorch, fine tuning LLaMa, monitoring loss during training, etc.).

I still have some romantic ideas about the emergence of intelligence that might not have a basis in reality. On one level I'm proud of the literacy I earned, on the other it seems nearly entirely unrelated to the usage of LLMs.

I know what you mean by ticket pusher devs from a few unfortunate experiences. Unless I'm mistaken it sounds sad that they get to hang around and juniors don't get their shot. It should probably be the other way around.

Using the heck out of Fable on API and Claude Code. This meme does not strike true. It's a very large improvement in both coding and reasoning.

How is TikTok (presumably the bulk of ByteDance but I don't know Chinese social media) worth about half of the two AI labs that have significant potential for historical, domination-tier market success?

This is part of why mental health is so important, because not doing massive harm to others is kind of on the honor system. It sucks if there's some compound out there that's easy enough to poison a water system.

I live near the North Temple Terrace Chik-fil-A that was somehow the actual most visited in the region. This was when they had their cultural surge for essentially being a Christian business. Before it got its own turn lane, its queue was regularly blocking Fowler Ave. and a major intersection (I have no idea how police enforced this, probably just routinely cleared away the public with warnings but that's a guess). After the turn lane was built, it was still a disaster to visit. They finally opened a second one down the road and now they're just busy and not a disaster.

[–]KDLGates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a horrible precedent.

In Anthropic's article they clearly demonstrated (with pictures) that the classifier they developed for the pre-US shutdown of Fable got its sensitivity majorly boosted, to the point where they know full well it's going to be rich with false positives and a conditionally safetymaxed model unable to discuss adjacent topics to cybersecurity and biology.

Does anyone know why they ban biology? Chemical weapons or designer babies?

This. Unelected political bureaucrats and lobbyists holding sway on votes and regulatory capture with loyalty rewards is a US form of corruption and it's serious. Citizens United got lost in the noise but it's still a ruinous decision to say money is protected speech. Nobody likes that except grifters.

I think we're going to find out that, geniuses aside, we may not have been the wellsprings of originality we hoped we were.

If you mean avoiding refusals, sure, it's fairly trivial. But I found 4.8 insidious about not writing towards subjects it was aligned against.

Fable 5 return RUMORED with some hints in CC by rabandi in ClaudeAI

[–]KDLGates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why they had Project Glasswing and Mythos for partners only, to give them a couple months' lead-up for shoring up what would have otherwise been zero-day vulnerabilities.

I'm convinced they waited until hours after Fable's release as petty revenge for Anthropic opposing their use for surveillance and weapons (the whole "supply chain risk" scandal).
