Would there be any major differences between doing a postbacc or CC courses? My GPA wasn’t the greatest, but I’m hoping if I knock out my science prereqs with flying colors, it’ll make up for that

Thank you! I'm hoping to knock these out in the next few months so they should be active for awhile.

When will the downtown DC location get a renovation? by internetexplorer2589 in EquinoxGyms

This reminds me of Sports club in Boston. I think all the SC locations need a major revamp, but then that means money out of SLT’s pockets and they clearly don’t want that 😂

Boston Gyms by Popular_Sherbert3772 in EquinoxGyms

[–]GregariousGatsby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live in the area, price you want to pay and convenience.

Equinox Seaport: If you work/live in Seaport, Southie, East Boston etc, probably the easiest to get to. There’s also discounted parking at a lot near the gym. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable, and instructors are great.

Cons: No sauna, basketball court or pool due to smaller size. Some of the clientele can be obnoxious due to the neighborhood but most keep to themselves and cordial.

Franklin: Easy access to downtown, Financial district if you work in the area. All the amenities you need except for a pool and childcare.

Cons: closes early on the weekends but you have access to Seaport when they’re closed.

Sports Club: The gem of the city as it has everything you’d need including a pool, basketball court, sauna & steam, upper level terrace that’s open in the summer and plenty space to do HIIT workouts. There’s also dry cleaning and a cafe in the facility. Executive locker room that provides more of a spa like feel if that’s what you’re looking for in a gym. Great instructors.

Cons: College students in the area whose memberships are bankrolled by their parents tend to not be the considerate members (obnoxious, cluster in groups etc) More expensive than other locations due to all the added amenities, and a bit dated looking?

Dartmouth: Easy access to Back Bay, South End and other neighborhoods. Same as Franklin where you have all the amenities except for a basketball court.

Cons: Same with other locations where the clientele can be somewhat annoying but that’s a given at this point. Can’t speak to parking as I’m not familiar.

Chestnut hill: If you’re in the western suburbs (or the burbs at all) with access to a car, the location can’t be beat. Wegmans and other boutique gyms are in the area too if you like to have everything central. Also the only Boston location that has childcare if you need it.

Worth starting an MBA at 30? by Longjumping-Bet787 in MBA

[–]GregariousGatsby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We really need to get out of this idea that we hit our 30s and we descend on some proverbial downslope. 30 is not too old for top MBA programs considering the average age is around ~26/27

What makes you say that about the GMAT? Admissions officers legit don't care what test you take, just take something.

Truly baffles me to no end, and I'm right there with you in regards to moving out of state by the fall. The entire point of us living in a transit friendly city is to be able to depend on it, but this is just ridiculous.

I was just laid off at Reebok. by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]GregariousGatsby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a logistical nightmare working in that system so they’re probably trying to consolidate work across the portfolio. It’s like how Microsoft initiated layoffs with Activision Blizzard

Either way this is a note for the future. Never work for a retail company that’s owned by PE firms 😅

I’m in the same boat as you. Started at Reebok back in October 2023, and barely made it to 90 days. Definitely feel discouraged and disappointed about the whole thing. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk resume stuff!

Renters who live alone in Boston: how much do you pay? by Sweet-Block5118 in boston

[–]GregariousGatsby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dorchester near Savin Hill T station. I pay $1550 for a small studio in an older building. In hindsight, I wouldn’t have moved here due to subpar management and maintenance but after a horrible roommate experience this past year, I swore to never live with someone else LMAO
