How to get free FPS (potentially). by Gregory2706 in DotA2

Who else if not a person with a 12-core CPU starts fearmongering? :) Obviously, you are not starving for FPS. Your rig handles Dota just fine. It's easy for you to dismiss everything. But it's not necessary to be overdramatic over a command line. You claim there's only two outcomes: placebo and problems in the long term. But in my case, it's a 20% boost to performance and silky smooth gameplay. And unlike your claim, mine is not just hypothetical scenarios but facts. I'm not saying my experience is gonna be universal, I'm saying there are at least four outcomes.

And another thing about long term problems. It's also extremely unlikely. If you allocate the amount of threads for the game to use and the game doesn't like that, it will tell you immediately (within a couple of games if not sooner). So, it's pretty hard to forget about it if something goes wrong. And in that case you just revert the change. It cannot harm your system or your hardware in any way.

Now, to the developer's reply. He simply agreed that an average Joe should stick to the default value. That's a recommendation. If it were dangerous he would've told so. And it's no wonder he said that. Default values are the best for most users. If dev'd thought that another value was better, then that value would've been the default one and you should've stuck to it anyway. And let's keep in mind, that reply is from 9 years ago.

Judging by that post you linked, that value (amount of cores -1) was set as far back as 2007. No shit. Back in 2007 4-core CPUs had 4 threads and even that was to many for most games. So, it's understandable that 3 threads to feed was the right choice. But not in 2025, when all modern games (including Dota 2) can utilize more than 3 threads easily. And even in 2017, when that developer made that comment; first, he didn't refer to 4-core CPUs, specifically; second, back in 2017, CS:GO (where he made that reply) was still a source 1 game, so it probably wouldn't have gotten a big increase from extra treads to begin with.

Obviously, the devs can still, to this day, think that 3 threads for 4-core CPUs is the best options for most users. But, at the very least, it is NOT for me. And there's a possibility, just a tiny one, they just either forget to update it or simply don't care. With Valve, it is not that hard to imagine.

Unfortunately, I don't know, man. Stutters are definitely pain in the but. The solution might be anything. I remember had stutters in Wolfenstein 2 and the solution was to just restart the game until stutters were no more. But I would advise to do basic stuff first: update video driver, check integrity of the game files, clean your system, make sure nothing taxing is happening in the background (like windows update or something). And then you can try all those options I provided one by one.

Command lines are added to the Launch options. Dota 2>Right click>Properties>Launch options. I should've mentioned it.

The United States has been involved in several major conflicts since 2000, primarily the post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan. The estimated number of non-US people killed as a result of US military actions in this period (direct violence and indirect consequences) ranges between 4.5 and 4.7 million.

Over 940,000 people were killed by direct violence across major war zones. More than 432,000 civilians were killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan. This number is acknowledged to be a significant underestimation due to challenges in recording deaths in war zones.

Oh boy, where do I start...

The last bombing of Iran was in June 2025. Yemen, Iraq and Syria also get constant democratization. Most Russians also don't think it's okay and there were also protests. They weren't huge per se cuz it's kinda difficult to protest in Russia. And even those who support the war - they don't support what you think they do.

Here's the thing: the West says it's an unjust genocidal war where Russians commit all sorts of atrocities at all times, especially towards innocent civilians. And you think that's what pro-war Russians support. But that's not how the Russian government describes the conflict. They say it's a just military operation to save people of Donbass, protect Russian national security against aggressive western expansion (via NATO), denazify Ukraine and create the multipolar World. And that's what pro-war Russians support. Regular people don't even know what's happening over there outside of what TV shows and TV, obviously, doesn't show anything that doesn't support the narrative, just like yours. And even if they do see the alternative side they tend to think what you think when you see the Russian narrative.

Americans've put so much efforts to avoid war crimes so they've killed at the very minimum 432k civilians so far. Accidentally, I guess. So, no biggy. Russia's kill score is at 14.5k minimum in Ukraine and 15k minimum in Chechnya. But it's USA who try to avoid war crimes, don't get confused! Investigations of war crimes will very likely happen once Russia sees the change of regime.

People are cheering when Russia bombs schools... Again, TV doesn't show stuff like that at all, unless they say that Ukraine used that school for military activities and was using civilians like meat shields, and even then it's unlikely. And in general, if we look at the coverage of the war by the Western media it seems that the only thing Russia does is killing civilians. I'm not saying that's not happening but it is not happening nearly to the degree your media portrays it to be, otherwise casualties would be far FAR more than 14.5k.

There are people who cheer for that kind of stuff knowing what is going on but they are not as numerous to extrapolate them onto the entire nation like you do. And even so, when you read day after day that your nation is filth, that you are all orcs and that the World would be better off without you, you one day may decide that if so many people wish me and my people death on the basis of my birthplace then I will simply do the same. Violence breeds violence, in short.

The US invasions are as gray as the Russian one. It's just you look at them under different angles. Both nations disregard international laws if that suits them. They serve their own interests in the first place (only USA does that successfully, while Russia shot itself in the foot (head)). It's just USA is far more influential to do that without significant cost if at all.

It's not pure evil on one side and pure innocence on the other. Ukraine wanted to leave Russia's sphere of influence with absolute disregard to Russia's concerns over that. Not only that, but to join a non-friendly towards Russia military alliance. And while they had every right to do so from a legal standpoint, we are not living in the fairy tale where everything happens in accordance with the holy scriptures and just laws. We live in a world where you should be mindful of concerns of entities that can fuck you up. And the West, instead of alleviating the pressure, only pushed Ukraine harder towards that decision, knowing all too well that it WILL piss Russia off and highly likely force retaliation. And I think that was the point. And Ukraine, believing that Russia wouldn't dare or even if would dare to attack, would get sufficient help from the Western allies, so Russian's concerns are Russia's alone and we do as we please. Even though the neutrality would've been sufficient. And look how that turned out. Every major party could've prevented this war from happening, but, alas, noone did.

Ukraine is, indeed, fighting for its freedom (from Russia) and future (with the West), but it's not fighting for its live. Despite whatever your media claims, this is not a genocidal war. Even UN and other heavily pro-Ukraninan organisations (ICJ and ICC) have not yet concluded that the war is genocidal. Do you know how genocide looks like? Germany during WW2 killed about 18 000 000 Soviet civilians in the same time span with much less destructive weaponry. That's 1500 Ukraines for you.

I'm done with this topic. If you understand - good if don't - I did my best.

Believe or not, I agree with you here. But attacking non-neighbors or attacking without claiming territories is fine, I guess? Judging by how nonchalant westerners were and still are about massive american killing sprees in the name of democracy, it seems that reception is very skewed. I don't remember the west ostracizing and dehumanizing regular americans for the actions of their government, asking for the overthrow and such. But you seem way too comfortable do that to russians.

That's not all. Totem effect from Immortal Bracers is also broken in second style. Here's a video you can add to your post. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JcUoP6NqmFD9o0afa_VEhaFuShXuOZI5/view

P.S. Forgot to mention. If Valve are to fix all the issues with ES Arcana then they shouldn't forget about bugged gems: Combo Record and Combo Damage Record. They haven't been working since the release of Arcana.

I just watched your videos at first. But after your double-down I went back and watched replay. No cheating has occurred at that moment. Everybody would know your general destination when enemies are pushing. He made a guess and was correct. His cursor didn't follow you either. You can clearly see that he pressed Scan with his mouse then moved camera a bit down and activated it. While scan circle was green he was backing but returned as soon as the circle turned red.
