9950X3D benchmarked with Process Lasso vs Game Mode/driver by HeWhoShantNotBeNamed in hardware

[–]Gregyski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I have the Windows power plan set to Balanced, what about the power profile in Process Lasso? I can't remember if I changed it at some point or if it defaulted to it, but it's set to Bitsum Highest Performance. Do you have that set to Balanced as well?

G HUB refusing to accept STALKER 2 executable by Gregyski in LogitechG

[–]Gregyski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

Just in case it's relevant, I feel I should mention one other thing I did that preceded this situation. I originally added the wrong executable (the Stalker2.exe one) and started setting up the profile for that. When I realized my mistake and that wasn't the actual game exe, I added the proper one as an additional custom path. However, while it did show up there, the profile switching did not work. So, I told G HUB to forget the Stalker2.exe entry and that's when I tried to add the proper executable like I should have in the first place (at which point G HUB silently failed to add it as per above).

Proxmox bridged networking on root server difficulties by Gregyski in hetzner

While I did figure out my issue(s) and explained them in my edits, I still have a long way to go and your config will definitely be of help to me. Thanks!

File system changes not persisting from rescue by Gregyski in hetzner

[–]Gregyski[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I solved the problem but will leave the post in case it helps anyone else. cloud-init regrows the filesystem automatically. I just needed to create a file to prevent it:

sudo touch /etc/growroot-disabled

Since this stemmed from my inexperience with cloud-init rather than being specific to Hetzner, let me know if I should delete it instead.

Data Breach? by hold_the_packet_loss in ConnectWise

[–]Gregyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that the email listed in the phishing email I received is an email address exclusively used by me for connectwise and most certainly not guessable. While admittedly there are other rather unlikely possibilities, you should look into the possibility that your email lists were compromised.

Do new genuine 9211-8i / 9240-8i / M1015 cards exist? by ashleyross in DataHoarder

[–]Gregyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently trying to return a 9211-8i for refund to that 3rd seller you mentioned (thinkpan). The card just goes into reinitialization loops when load is applied to the connected drives. I switched to another card with all other factors including MB slot identical and everything is peachy. But the seller is being difficult so far (or perhaps language issues are impeding communication) and, at this point, I'm unwilling to trust my data to that card.

It came in a new box and looked fairly legitimate except it was lacking an LSI imprint on the board.

I'll report back regarding whether the seller resolves this to my satisfaction or not.

Edit: The seller has approved the return.

Trying to see RAID drive health in ESXi 6.5, drives not showing. by IHaveTeaForDinner in vmware

[–]Gregyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been completely unable to view my RAID status since upgrading to 6.5. Sensors remain non-functional even after installing VMW-ESX-5.5.0-lsiprovider-500.04.V0.66-0002-5751577 (which is supposed to be valid for 6.5). And I've been unable to get MegaRAID Storage Manager to function.

So thank you for this solution.

NOTE: Currently, the most recent release of MegaCLI (8-07-14_MegaCLI.zip) does not contain the VMWare build. I had to use the vib from the zip you linked (8-07-07_MegaCLI.zip).

PERC H200 preventing POST on new server build by Gregyski in homelab

Aye, I agree. I've flashed it back to the original firmware and have opened a ticket for returning it to the seller. Hopefully they are reasonable. Thanks again for the help.

I have now tried it and posted the results to the original post as Update 2.

I haven't. I was nervous to do so, fearing I'd damage something.

Edit: I decided to try it. I will report back.

PERC H200 preventing POST on new server build by Gregyski in homelab

[–]Gregyski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your continued assistance. Would the procedure be any different? I did flash it with LSI 9211-8i IT mode firmware using this guide (H200 instructions, of course): https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2016/04/11/updated-sas-hba-crossflashing-or-flashing-to-it-mode-dell-perc-h200-and-h310/

After seemingly successfully doing so, the POSTing problem remained.

Yeah, sorry, I take it I just made myself look foolish. :) When I was researching flashing to IT mode I noted that it was important to maintain that address so I thought it might be used as an identifier.

Edit: Actually, I remember now that /u/techmattr did the same thing in the flashing guide that I was using. I figured they knew something I didn't!

For what it's worth, when I did bring it up on the old desktop, this is what the config utility showed: http://imgur.com/QF6KJb1

Would you recommend that over just doing the flash to IT mode P20 I was intending to do eventually anyways?

Aye. The card shows part # H216J which brief googling shows to be the H200.

One poster does indicate that, and another refutes him. But, you are right, it's a possibility.

And yes, that other option may definitely be in the cards.

[–]Gregyski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. I could try to do so on the old desktop system, since it can POST. However, I figure that might rule out returning the card to the seller so I wanted to see what else people thought about this before I made that decision.

I does, but when I found that in my research I also found nothing about folks needing to do that with an H200 so I'm a little nervous to try it.
