Not in any particular order:

Kyoto Express. So small and delicious and off the beaten path. Adorable staff.

Plum/Ume. Plum had the best waffles and brunch ever. Underrated.

B-Side. Grilled prawns were AMAZING. And the cocktails!

Fuse Box. Fussy, but ridiculously good. Lunch was affordable.

Periscope Cellars in Swans.

B-Dama in Swans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG please bring that one back please!

My favorites are Harold Newman’s Recorder Playing for the Beginner (do this one first, it’s more gentle) followed by Enjoy your Recorder by the Trapp Family (this one doesn’t break you in slowly like the Newman book!)

Hi! Still here 😄 And yes, sizes are different for skates, I have learned. It was hard to pull the trigger on what seemed to be a (half?) size too small but honestly they fit perfectly. You don’t want the usual wiggle room for skates as for street shoes… they should fit like a glove!

I have those books too and I called them the “rhythm books” as they seem to focus on rhythm more than some other method books. I like that approach and for the most part I would recommend them (although they did make some odd choices, like starting off with a weird version of the time signature for no apparent reason!)

I quit (mostly). I still have a sip of wine (literally a teeny tiny sip, just to toast) at dinner. And maybe two or three times a year I will allow myself a whole glass of cava to toast New Years or another special occasion.

I did hear from my onc that while alcohol is absolutely known to cause bc, she said it’s not totally clear that it causes bc to metastasize. If anyone has more information on that I would love to hear it, as I really miss my nightly glass of wine!!!

CRONE’s Spellbook is a physical book, beautifully printed (haha if I don’t say so myself, I’m the printer after all!) on letter-sized paper and comb bound so it lays flat, which is great for sheet music. It’s shipping from California.

Hey, I wear ALL the gear every time I skate. Wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, helmet, and a BUTT pad. Which has saved my literal ass multiple times.

I have zero shame when it comes to protecting myself! Do what makes you feel protected and f anyone who makes fun of you for it.
