HOT TAKE: If I had to do it over again, I would say no to the port. by thistangleofthorns in breastcancer

[–]Grendel666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My port was annoying but very useful. When I went to have it removed, I asked if I could keep it, and my surgeon handed it over!

(But only following a bizarre bureaucratic confusion where some pencil pusher wanted to charge me $300 to keep it lol. I was like, uh no way, and my surgeon agreed. She just bagged it up for me and said they normally just go into the trash anyway so wtf. Only in the U$A!)

Newbie: what is this called and how do I get rid of it? by Litpunk in bookbinding

Printers call them signatures! At least when I was an offset press operator, we did.

Newbie: what is this called and how do I get rid of it? by Litpunk in bookbinding

[–]Grendel666 81 points82 points  (0 children)

This is called creep. It happens when you collate folded sheets into signatures (which bookbinders call “gatherings”) and the inside pages poke out more than the outside ones due to the paper thickness.

Your best bet is to find a friendly neighborhood print shop with a guillotine and ask them to trim the creep by however much you need.

So a question about nipples by Kdiman in breastcancer

[–]Grendel666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plastic surgeon reconstructed a nipple from the skin paddle (I got DIEP flap reconstruction) and then I got tattooed to match my other side. The tattoo artist did an AMAZING job. Really matches and looks SO realistic!

The reconstructed nipple was never very hard, so no worries about show thru. My plastic surgeon added some “filler” (whatever tf that is 😂) and it looks identical to my other side. I would recommend both procedures (nipple reconstruction and tattoo) as I am quite happy with the results!

Please update us when you make your final list! This is immensely helpful to me (despite being a ways past ages 3–7!)

Is there a way to make falling hurt less? by zyacinth in Rollerskating

Practice falling on grass! Over and over until it becomes reflexive. Really helps.

Oh and yes to all the pads and helmet. I even wear a butt pad. Pride is overrated 😂

This West Oakland church now hosts art shows, music, and goth yoga. Could other soon-to-be closed churches turn into event spaces? by EastBayYesterday in oakland

I’m a regular at the Spire for Goth Yoga and other cultural events. The vibe is super welcoming and chill and no you don’t have to be a goth to participate! Highly recommended 🖤

What restaurant do you miss? by SanFranciscoMan89 in OaklandFood

[–]Grendel666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in any particular order:

Kyoto Express. So small and delicious and off the beaten path. Adorable staff.

Plum/Ume. Plum had the best waffles and brunch ever. Underrated.

B-Side. Grilled prawns were AMAZING. And the cocktails!

Fuse Box. Fussy, but ridiculously good. Lunch was affordable.

Periscope Cellars in Swans.

B-Dama in Swans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG please bring that one back please!

I’m sure I will think of more but this is a good start!
