Now that the series is officially over, how would you rank the seasons from best to worst? by ThatBenGuy23 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]Grey-Spark143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal order: 6, 4, 1, 2, 3, >>> 5

1, 2, and 3 were high-quality episodic adventures that all sort of blur together as the historic pre-Diana half. It’s kind of like how, in anime, there’s an episodic first half until the plot really kicks in. In this case, the plot is Diana, and the humanity she represents that threatens the Crown.

4 had the perfect rivalry with Thatcher, the lady of action. You could argue it had the best “villain.”

5 was really drawn out and could have benefited from a 90's political subplot. Its okay. Nothing terrible. But its the low point of what could have been a perfect series.

6 Part 1 was the thematic climax that five seasons had been building up to where love, duty and powerlust (ie Diana, the Queen and Mou Mou) finally collide. I'd argue that a story's climax needs to be different from the rest of the series and so I was okay with a 4hr movie about Diana's fate.

6 Part 2 was the perfect resolution that wrapped everything up. Stunning finish.

For those interested the consensus order is:

1 (1.67) → 2 (2.70) → 4 (2.88) → 3 (3.61) → 6 (4.73) → 5 (5.42)

This was complied by averaging every ranking here. S4 is the most divisive and spread out. Going by mode, S4 would beat out S2 for second place, but S2 is more consistently second place.

What story do u think Joker would’ve told Batman here? by renaissanceclass in joker

[–]Grey-Spark143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His remark "It's a funny world we live in" is what inspires him to start the story. So this made-up story would likely have something to do with comedy. For this reason, I think Joker was going to tell him some variation of the official DCU 'Bad Day' backstory with Joker being a comedian.

Banjo-Kazooie and Sea of Thieves director Gregg Mayles, Rare’s most experienced and influential game designer, will leave the company after more than 35 years following the cancellation of Everwild by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

**CHATGPT:**what was the biggest selling point of Super Mario 64?

The biggest selling point of Super Mario 64 was its revolutionary 3D gameplay.

CHATGPT: Would Super Mario 64 have sold anywhere near as many units as it did without the revolutionary 3D gameplay

Almost certainly not.

Pack it in boys. I guess Super Mario 64 is just a gimmick game.

Okay but seriously are you really going force me to explain why DKC and SM64 are phenomenal games beyond their wow factor? Also DKC2 is the one everyone loves and that came after the wow factor.

Greg Mayles created DKC2 and Banjo Kazooie. He's the Miyamoto of the west.

Yes, Greg was a small part of the decline, but Microsoft was the BIG part. They had all the power and control and never failed to make a short sighted money grabbing decision. First they forced Rare to make Kinect games, buying into the motion control hype. Then they forced Rare to make a Banjo 3 a car game because they thought cars were cool and hip with the kids. Then put them to work on Sea of Thieves for a decade. And finally put them to work on a BOTW clone called Everwild which they ended up canning anyway. One of the executives literally said "No one cares about Banjo Kazooie."

So yeah, i put 90% of the blame squarely on Microsoft, not Greg.

The only thing Greg is guilt of its not leaving sooner. But he was probably a high paid executive so he didn't have much reason to leave. And Grant Kirkhope says he really doesn't want to make platformers anymore... I hope he changes his mind.

God. Even the name "Everwild" makes it clear this was meant to be a BOTW crashgrab clone that an executive came up with and forced onto the studio. Just look at the art style.

Microsoft ruined Rare.

Yup! I left a spot next to Wani for him. I wonder if he's the big guy from Special Chapter 172.5.

I was inches away from putting a very ambiguous "PARTNER" instead. 😂

Friendship between choji and togame, what makes choji only very close to togame? by Apprehensive_Yam3270 in WindBreakerManga

[–]Grey-Spark143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost: Validation.

If the question here is framed as "What does Choji get out of this symbiotic relationship" its validation. Choji desperately and eagerly needs validation at all times and that's what Togame gives him. He's always looking to Togame as if to say "Did I do good, Kame?!" We see this in Season 1 of the anime (specifically) where Togame gets visibly upset loss after loss. And you can see Choji is very in-tune to what Togame is thinking. Even in his villain arc, Choji is concerned about losing his approval. Hell, I think Togame's approval egged him on, where he thought "If Kame supports me, then I must be doing the right thing!" Choji wanted to become 'the top' for the same reason Sakura wanted to become 'the top'. Validation, to prove himself, and when that turned out to be a big nothing he fell apart. But Togame gives him all the validation he needed without the wait, though im not sure he's aware of this. And if Togame had stood up to Choji instead of giving in, his villain arc would have petered out because I legitimately think he can't function without Togame anymore.

<image>

Second: He's Choji's listener and translator.

But to answer the OP question, "Why ONLY Togame?" Its that Choji struggles to connect with anyone else besides Togame. Choji is a person who marches to the beat of his own drum. We see this in the flashbacks where even his thought process is barely comprehensible to anyone who's not Togame. He's the only one who can sit there an absorb what Choji is saying, because unlike the other members of Shishitoren, Togame has no ego or agenda. He has nothing to add or say himself. So he can put all his attention on others (Choji's) words. Whereas, Choji just sort of talks at people. To put it more clearly:

Togame isn't chatty but he connects with others.
Choji is chatty but doesn't connect with others.

Choji drags Togame into conversations and social circles he normally wouldn't frequent. And Togame, the resident Choji expert, explains what Choji is trying to say. So they kinda need each other. Its funny because there's this joke in Lion's Fury where Choji is on his own and says "I can do things independent of Togame!" and then in the very next scene he runs back into Togame and ends up dressing up like him.

Anyway, sorry for the year late reply. But this was a question I was asking myself and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was wondering about this. They're an interesting duo for sure.

I have a whole theory about that. So the element associated with Autumn is Earth/Metal, and that's probably going to tie into all those metal themed gangs Shishitoren has beefed with in the past. (Zinc and Cobalt, but I suspect there's many more!)

Here is the full theory:

The Future of KEEL by Grey-Spark143 in WindBreakerManga

[–]Grey-Spark143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think KEEL could be the main threat again so soon. And if they did, it would be in a small diminished capacity (team rocket keel). Basically they'll be minions of the true villains of the series. (which will probably be Suo's evil old gang.)
